1 .- 113 . (canceled) 114 . A negative pressure wound therapy apparatus comprising: a wound dressing having a length, a width, a central longitudinal axis extending along the length and a transverse axis extending along the width perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis, the wound dressing comprising: a wound contact layer configured to be positioned over skin surrounding a wound; a material layer positioned above the wound contact layer, a backing layer above the material layer; a port coupled to an upper surface of the backing layer on one side of the transverse axis, the port configured to connect the wound dressing to a source of negative pressure; and at least one notch along a perimeter of the material layer configured to aid in conforming the wound dressing to a nonplanar wound. 115 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the material layer comprises: a first portion positioned on one side of the transverse axis, the first portion comprising side surfaces on opposite sides of the central longitudinal axis; and a second portion positioned on an opposite side of the transverse axis, wherein the at least one notch comprises a first notch between the first and second portions, and a second notch between the first and second portions. 116 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 115 , wherein each side surface of the first portion comprises a substantially straight portion. 117 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 115 , wherein each side surface of the first portion comprises a convex curve. 118 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 117 , further comprising at least one additional notch in at least one of the convex curves in at least one of the side surfaces. 119 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 115 , wherein the first notch and the second notch are located on the transverse axis. 120 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 119 , wherein a central portion between the first notch and the second notch joins the first portion and the second portion, the central portion having a narrower width than a greatest width of the first portion and a greatest width of the second portion, and wherein the greatest width of the first portion is at least as wide as the greatest width of the second portion. 121 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the material layer comprises: a first portion positioned on one side of the transverse axis, the first portion comprising the port and side surfaces on opposite sides of the central longitudinal axis; and a second portion positioned on an opposite side of the transverse axis, the second portion comprising side surfaces and at least one of the at least one notches. 122 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 121 , wherein a width of the material layer between the side surfaces of the first portion decreases in a longitudinal direction away from the port toward the second portion. 123 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 121 , wherein a width of the material layer between side surfaces of the second portion increases in a longitudinal direction away from the first portion. 124 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 121 wherein at least a portion of the side surfaces of the second portion are substantially straight. 125 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein at least one notch comprises a circular cut-out located on one of the central longitudinal axis or the transverse axis. 126 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the at least one notch comprises six notches along the perimeter of the material layer. 127 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the material layer is symmetric about the central longitudinal axis. 128 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the material layer is symmetric about the transverse axis. 129 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the material layer comprises an absorbent material. 130 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the material layer comprises foam. 131 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , further comprising adhesive on the wound contact layer configured to adhere the wound contact layer with the backing layer to the skin surrounding the wound. 132 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the backing layer is larger than the material layer. 133 . The negative pressure wound therapy apparatus of claim 114 , wherein the perimeter of the backing layer does not include a notch.
