What is claimed is: 1 - 53 . (canceled) 54 . An isolated nucleic acid comprising a polynucleotide that hybridizes under stringent conditions to SEQ ID NO: 3 or 4 or a polynucleotide sequence encoding SEQ ID NO: 1 or 2, wherein the polynucleotide comprises at least one selector codon. 55 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 54 , wherein the selector codon is selected from the group consisting of an amber codon, ochre codon, opal codon, a unique codon, a rare codon, and a four-base codon. 56 - 68 . (canceled) 69 . A cell comprising the nucleic acid of claim 54 . 70 . (canceled) 71 . A method of making a bG-CSF polypeptide comprising a non-naturally encoded amino acid, the method comprising, culturing cells comprising a polynucleotide or polynucleotides encoding a bG-CSF polypeptide comprising a selector codon, an orthogonal RNA synthetase and an orthogonal tRNA under conditions to permit expression of the bG-CSF polypeptide comprising a non-naturally encoded amino acid; and purifying the bG-CSF polypeptide. 72 - 104 . (canceled) 105 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 54 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid comprising the polynucleotide sequence encoding SEQ ID NO: 1. 106 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 105 , wherein position 133 of SEQ ID NO: 1 is substituted with a non-naturally encoded amino acid. 107 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 106 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is para-acetylphenylalanine. 108 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 106 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is linked to a water soluble polymer comprising a poly(ethylene) glycol moiety. 109 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 54 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid comprising the polynucleotide sequence encoding SEQ ID NO: 2. 110 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 109 , wherein position 134 of SEQ ID NO: 2 is substituted with a non-naturally encoded amino acid. 111 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 110 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is para-acetylphenylalanine. 112 . The isolated nucleic acid of claim 110 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is linked to a water soluble polymer comprising a poly(ethylene) glycol moiety. 113 . The method of claim 71 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid comprising the polynucleotide sequence encoding SEQ ID NO: 1. 114 . The method of claim 113 , wherein position 133 of SEQ ID NO: 1 is substituted with a non-naturally encoded amino acid. 115 . The method of claim 114 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is para-acetylphenylalanine. 116 . The method of claim 114 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is linked to a water soluble polymer comprising a poly(ethylene) glycol moiety. 117 . The method of claim 71 , wherein the isolated nucleic acid comprising the polynucleotide sequence encoding SEQ ID NO: 2. 118 . The method of claim 117 , wherein position 134 of SEQ ID NO: 2 is substituted with a non-naturally encoded amino acid. 119 . The method of claim 118 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is para-acetylphenylalanine. 120 . The method of claim 118 , wherein the non-naturally encoded amino acid is linked to a water soluble polymer comprising a poly(ethylene) glycol moiety.
