Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An air conditioning apparatus according to an aspect of the present invention includes a main body including a suction part through which air is suctioned and a discharge part through which the air suctioned through the suction part is discharged, a fan disposed in the main body to allow the air to flow, an electric charge device coupled to the main body outside the main body to charge dust in the air, and a filter device disposed between the suction part and the discharge part in the main body to collect the charged dust particles.

What is claimed is: 1 - 20 . (canceled) 21 . An air conditioner, comprising: a body including a suction grille having a suction opening through which air is suctioned and a discharge opening through which the air is discharged; a fan provided in the body; a heat exchanger provided in the body and with which the air suctioned through the suction opening is heat-exchanged; an electric charge device configured to charge foreign substances in the air being suctioned through the suction opening; and a voltage applying part configured to supply a voltage to the electric charge device, wherein the electric charge device includes: a housing having an opening that is fluidly communicated with the air being suctioned through the suction opening; and an electric charge part provided inside the housing and electrically connected to the voltage applying part, the electric charge part including an electrode that extends towards the opening and generates ions, wherein the housing is located outside the suction grille to allow the foreign substances in the air to be charged before suctioning into the suction opening, and wherein the opening is arranged such that a flow path of ions from the electrode towards the outside of the suction grill is formed to cross a suction flow of the air towards the suction opening. 22 . The air conditioner of claim 21 , wherein the voltage applying part is disposed outside the electric charge device. 23 . The air conditioner of claim 21 , wherein the opening and the electrode are located vertically above the suction grille, and wherein the electrode is arranged substantially parallel to the suction grille. 24 . The air conditioner of claim 21 , wherein the suction grille includes a portion extending in a front-rear direction of the body, wherein the opening and electrode of the electric charge device are located vertically above the suction grill, and wherein the electrode extends in a front-rear direction of the suction grill. 25 . The air conditioner of claim 21 , wherein the heat exchanger includes an inlet side in which the air suctioned through the suction opening is introduced and an outlet side through which the air heat-exchanged with the heat exchanger is discharged, wherein the suction grille is disposed between the housing and the inlet side of the heat exchanger. 26 . The air conditioner of claim 25 , further comprising: a filter disposed on the inlet side of the heat exchanger to collect charged foreign substances. 27 . An air conditioner, comprising: a body including a suction grille having a suction opening through which air is suctioned and a discharge opening through which the air is discharged; a fan provided in the body; a heat exchanger provided in the body and with which the air suctioned through the suction opening is heat-exchanged; an electric charge device configured to charge foreign substances in the air being suctioned through the suction opening; and a voltage applying part configured to supply a voltage to the electric charge device, wherein the electric charge device includes: a housing having an opening that is fluidly communicated with the air being suctioned through the suction opening; and an electric charge part that is provided in the housing and generates ions by voltage applied from the voltage applying part, wherein the opening is substantially located outside the suction grille such that the ions diffused through the opening is transferred to the air before the air is suctioned through the suction opening. 28 . The air conditioner of claim 27 , wherein the electric charge device further includes at least one coupling portion that extends from the housing and is coupled to the suction grille, and wherein the at least one coupling portion is located between the suction grille and the housing such that the housing is disposed outside the suction grille. 29 . The air conditioner of claim 27 , wherein the opening includes a plurality of openings that are disposed to fluidly communicate with an outer space of the suction grille. 30 . The air conditioner of claim 29 , wherein the housing includes a front surface part and a side surface part, and wherein the plurality of openings are formed on the front surface part and the side surface part of the housing. 31 . The air conditioner of claim 29 , wherein the housing includes a base on which the electric charge part is installed and a cover to shield the base, and wherein the plurality of openings are formed in the base and the cover. 32 . The air conditioner of claim 29 , wherein the electrode includes a plurality of electrodes corresponding to the plurality of openings. 33 . An air conditioner, comprising: a body including a suction grille having a suction opening through which air is suctioned and a discharge opening through which the air is discharged; a fan provided in the body; a heat exchanger provided in the body and with which the air suctioned through the suction opening is heat-exchanged; an electric charge device configured to charge foreign substances in the air being suctioned through the suction opening; and a voltage applying part configured to supply a voltage to the electric charge device, wherein the electric charge device includes: a housing disposed outside the suction grille and having an opening that is fluidly communicated with the air being suctioned through the suction opening; and an electric charge part including an electrode that is provided inside the housing and extends towards the opening to generate ions, wherein a direction in which the electrode extends towards the opening is substantially parallel to the suction grille such that a flow path of ions from the electrode towards the outside of the suction grill is different from a suction flow path of the air towards the suction opening. 34 . The air conditioner of claim 33 , wherein the opening and electrode of the electric charge device are located vertically above the suction grill, and wherein the electrode extends in a front-rear direction of the suction grill. 35 . The air conditioner of claim 33 , wherein the electric charge device further includes: a wire connected to the voltage applying part; and a wire through-hole formed in the housing and configured to guide the wire to extend from an inside to an outside of the housing. 36 . The air conditioner of claim 33 , further comprising: a filter that is disposed between an inlet side of the heat exchanger and the suction opening and collects charged foreign substances, wherein the filter includes a plurality of arrays disposed to be spaced apart from each other to allow the air to pass through a space defined between the plurality of arrays. 37 . The air conditioner of claim 33 , wherein the body includes a front frame and a rear frame to define a space in which the heat exchanger and the fan are installed, wherein the suction grille is disposed vertically above the front frame and has a portion extending in a front and rear direction of the body.
