Official abstract text for this publication.
Described are examples for streaming content at a device. One or more environmental parameters can be determined for the device. One or more parameters for receiving streaming content via one or more streaming servers over one or more network connections can be modified based on the one or more environmental parameters. The streaming content can be received based at least in part on the one or more streaming parameters.

What is claimed is: 1 . A computer implemented method for streaming content to a device, comprising: determining an environmental parameter of the device while streaming the content from a streaming server over a network connection; modifying, based at least in part on the environmental parameter, a parameter related to one of more of writing to a disc or performing auxiliary network activity; and eliminating, based at least in part on the parameter, one or more of writing to the disc or performing the auxiliary network activity while streaming the content. 2 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the parameter includes modifying a storage location for data to be in non-persistent storage instead of on the disc. 3 . The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the environmental parameter indicates that the device is powered by battery. 4 . The computer implemented method of claim 3 , further comprising flushing the data from the non-persistent storage to the disc based on determining that the disc is active from another process. 5 . The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the data includes content parameters or logging information. 6 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the parameter is based on detecting a process using the disc or performing the auxiliary network activity. 7 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the parameter includes parameters of a network logging application executing while streaming content. 8 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the parameter includes a streaming parameter to request streaming content while performing the auxiliary network activity. 9 . A device configured for streaming content, comprising: a memory storing instructions for executing a streaming application; and a processor coupled with the memory, wherein the processor is configured to: detect an environmental parameter of the device while streaming, via the steaming application, the content from a streaming server over a network connection; adjust, based at least in part on the environmental parameter, a parameter related to one of more of disc activity or auxiliary network activity on the device; and receiving, based at least in part on the parameter, the streaming content while eliminating one or more of the disc activity or the auxiliary network activity. 10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to adjust the parameter including adjusting a storage location for data to be in non-persistent storage instead of on the disc. 11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the environmental parameter indicates that the device is powered by battery. 12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to flush the data from the non-persistent storage to the disc based on determining that the disc is active from another process. 13 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the data includes content parameters or logging information. 14 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to adjust the parameter based on detecting a process using the disc or performing the auxiliary network activity. 15 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the parameter includes parameters of a network logging application executing while streaming content. 16 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the parameter includes a streaming parameter to request streaming content while performing the auxiliary network activity. 17 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium, comprising code executable by a processor for streaming content to a device, the code comprising code for: determining an environmental parameter of the device while streaming the content from a streaming server over a network connection; modifying, based at least in part on the environmental parameter, a parameter related to one of more of writing to a disc or performing auxiliary network activity; and receiving, based at least in part on the parameter, the streaming content while eliminating one or more of writing to the disc or performing the auxiliary network activity. 18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the code for modifying the parameter modifies a storage location for data to be in non-persistent storage instead of on the disc. 19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the data includes content parameters or logging information. 20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the code for modifying modifies the parameter based on detecting a process using the disc or performing the auxiliary network activity.
