Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An aerosol-generating article is provided for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating, the article including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; a downstream section at a location downstream of the rod and including: a support element located immediately downstream of the rod and being in longitudinal alignment with the rod and including a first hollow tubular segment, and an aerosol cooling element immediately downstream of the support element and in longitudinal alignment with the support element and the rod, the aerosol-cooling element including a second hollow tubular segment; a ventilation zone at a location along the second hollow tubular segment; and an upstream section at a location upstream of the rod and including an upstream element positioned immediately upstream of the rod and having a resistance-to-draw (RTD) of less than 80 millimetres H2O, in which the article has a ventilation level of at least 10 percent.

1 - 13 . (canceled) 14 . An aerosol-generating article for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating, the aerosol-generating article comprising: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; a downstream section at a location downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, wherein the downstream section comprises: a support element located immediately downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the support element being in longitudinal alignment with the rod of aerosol-generating substrate and comprising a first hollow tubular segment, and an aerosol cooling element immediately downstream of the support element and in longitudinal alignment with the support element and the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the aerosol-cooling element comprising a second hollow tubular segment; a ventilation zone at a location along the second hollow tubular segment; and an upstream section at a location upstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the upstream section comprising an upstream element positioned immediately upstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate and having a resistance-to-draw (RTD) of less than 80 millimetres H 2 O, wherein the aerosol-generating article has a ventilation level of at least 10 percent. 15 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 14 , further comprising an elongate susceptor arranged longitudinally within the aerosol-generating substrate. 16 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 15 , wherein the susceptor extends all the way to a downstream end of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate. 17 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 14 , wherein the second hollow tubular segment defines a cavity extending all the way from a downstream end of the second hollow tubular segment to an upstream end of the second hollow tubular segment. 18 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 14 , wherein the aerosol-generating article has a ventilation level of less than 40 percent. 19 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 14 , wherein a resistance-to-draw (RTD) of the support element is less than 10 millimetres H 2 O and an RTD of the aerosol-cooling element is less than 10 millimetres H 2 O. 20 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 14 , wherein the rod of aerosol-generating substrate comprises a gel composition that includes an alkaloid compound, or a cannabinoid compound, or both an alkaloid compound and a cannabinoid compound, or wherein the aerosol-generating substrate comprises a homogenised plant material comprising non-tobacco plant flavour particles. 21 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 14 , wherein the ventilation zone comprises one or more rows of perforations formed through a peripheral wall of the second hollow tubular segment. 22 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 21 , wherein the one or more rows of perforations are arranged circumferentially around the peripheral wall of the second hollow tubular segment. 23 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 22 , wherein the ventilation zone further comprises two or more rows of perforations, the rows being longitudinally spaced apart from one another along the second hollow tubular segment. 24 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 21 , wherein an equivalent diameter of at least one of the ventilation perforations is at least 150 micrometres. 25 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 14 , wherein the upstream element has a length of less than 10 millimetres.
