Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An aerosol-generating article for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating is provided, the article including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; a mouthpiece element having a length L1 and including at least one mouthpiece filter segment formed of a fibrous filtration material; and an intermediate hollow section between the rod and the mouthpiece element, the intermediate hollow section having a length L2 and including: an aerosol-cooling element downstream of the rod and including a hollow tubular segment defining a longitudinal cavity providing an unrestricted flow channel, a length of the aerosol-cooling element being less than 10 millimetres, and a support element between the aerosol-cooling element and the rod, in which an upstream end of the aerosol-cooling element abuts a downstream end of the support element, and in which the length L1 of the mouthpiece element is at least 0.4 times the length L2 of the intermediate hollow section.

1 .- 15 . (canceled) 16 . An aerosol-generating article for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating, the aerosol-generating article comprising: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; a mouthpiece element having a length L1 and comprising at least one mouthpiece filter segment formed of a fibrous filtration material; and an intermediate hollow section between the rod of aerosol-generating substrate and the mouthpiece element, the intermediate hollow section having a length L2 and comprising: an aerosol-cooling element downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the aerosol-cooling element comprising a hollow tubular segment defining a longitudinal cavity providing an unrestricted flow channel, wherein a length of the aerosol-cooling element is less than 10 millimetres, and a support element between the aerosol-cooling element and the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, wherein an upstream end of the aerosol-cooling element abuts a downstream end of the support element, and wherein the length L1 of the mouthpiece element is at least 0.4 times the length L2 of the intermediate hollow section. 17 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the length L1 of the mouthpiece element is at least 0.6 times the length L2 of the intermediate hollow section. 18 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the length L1 of the mouthpiece element is at least 0.75 times the length L2 of the intermediate hollow section. 19 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the length L1 of the mouthpiece element is at least 2 millimetres greater than the length L2 of the aerosol-cooling element. 20 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the length L1 of the mouthpiece element is greater than 10 millimetres. 21 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the mouthpiece element further comprises a mouthpiece filter segment having a length that is at least 0.4 times the length L2 of the intermediate hollow section. 22 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , further comprising an upstream element provided upstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate. 23 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein a resistance to draw (RTD) of the mouthpiece element is less than 15 millimetres H 2 O. 24 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the hollow tubular segment of the aerosol-cooling element has a wall thickness of less than 2.5 millimetres. 25 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the aerosol-cooling element further comprises a ventilation zone at a position along the hollow tubular segment. 26 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the rod of aerosol-generating substrate comprises a gel composition. 27 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the support element comprises a hollow tubular segment defining a longitudinal cavity providing an unrestricted flow channel. 28 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein a length of the intermediate hollow section is no more than 18 millimetres. 29 . The aerosol-generating article according to claim 16 , wherein the aerosol-generating article has a total length of 45 millimetres.
