A loading device for loading a roll of wrapping material into a feed device of a baler from which the wrapping material may be dispensed is disclosed. The loading device comprises a lateral channel supported at a first end by a first support and at a second end by a second support, a sliding member having first and second ends mounted for reciprocal movement within the lateral channel, a support member having first and second ends, the first end of the support member mounted to the second end of the sliding member, a winch and cable apparatus, a free end of the cable extending through the support member and a carriage mounted to the free end of the cable. The carriage includes a central element with engagement elements at first and second ends of the central element for releasable engagement with a roll of wrapping material. The winch and cable apparatus enables the carriage to be raised and lowered with respect to the second end of the pivoting member.

A loading device for loading a roll of wrapping material into a feed device of a baler from which the wrapping material may be dispensed, the feed device including a reservoir for receiving a roll of wrapping material, the loading device comprising a lateral channel supported at a first end by a first support and at a second end by a second support, a sliding member having first and second ends mounted for reciprocal movement within the lateral channel, a support member having first and second ends, the first end of the support member mounted to the second end of the sliding member, a winch and cable apparatus, a free end of the cable extending through the support member and a carriage mounted to the free end of the cable, the carriage comprising a central element with engagement elements at first and second ends of the central element for releasable engagement with a roll of wrapping material, the winch and cable apparatus enabling the carriage to be raised and lowered with respect to the second end of the pivoting member. 2 . A loading device according to claim 1 , characterised in that the first support and the second support are pivotally mounted for movement about a first horizontal axis between a storage position and a deployed position. 3 . A loading device according to claim 1 to claim 2 , characterised in that the carriage is releasably mounted to the free end of the cable. 4 . A baler comprising a baler frame and a loading device according to any of claim 1 to claim 3 , characterised in that the first and second supports are mounted to the baler frame.
