A switching device 1 includes a SiC semiconductor chip 11 which has a gate pad 14, a source pad 13 and a drain pad 12 and in which on-off control is performed between the source and the drain by applying a drive voltage between the gate and the source in a state where a potential difference is applied between the source and the drain, a sense source terminal 4 electrically connected to the source pad 13 for applying the drive voltage, and an external resistance (source wire 16) that is interposed in a current path between the sense source terminal 4 and the source pad 13, is separated from sense source terminal 4, and has a predetermined size.

1 - 8 . (canceled) 9 . A switching device including: a power switching element that performs switching operation between a first electrode and a second electrode by a control electrode; a first terminal electrically connected to the first electrode; a second terminal electrically connected to the second electrode and having an island on which the power switching element is mounted, a control terminal electrically connected to the control electrode; a third terminal that is electrically connected to the first electrode and is separated from the first terminal, and a resin package sealing the power switching element, a part of the first terminal, a part of the control terminal, a part of the third terminal, and a part of the second terminal; wherein the first terminal, the control terminal, the third terminal, and the second terminal each include a sealing portion sealed in the resin package and an exposed portion exposed from a same surface of the resin package, and the first electrode and the first terminal are connected by a plurality of first wires. 10 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein a distance between the exposed portion of the first terminal and the exposed portion of the second terminal is larger than a distance between the exposed portion of the third terminal and the exposed portion of the control terminal. 11 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein a distance between the exposed portion of the first terminal and the exposed portion of the second terminal is larger than a distance between the sealing portion of the first terminal and the sealing portion of the second terminal. 12 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein the island to which the second electrode is electrically connected is included in the sealing portion of the second terminal, the first terminal has a wide lead portion that is wider than the exposed portion of the first terminal in the sealing portion of the first terminal, and a distance between the exposed portion of the first terminal and the exposed portion of the second terminal is larger than a distance between the island and the wide lead portion. 13 . The switching device according to claim 12 , wherein the first electrode is connected to a plurality of locations of the wide lead portion by the plurality of first wires, the control electrode is connected to the sealing portion of the control terminal by a second wire, and the sealing portion of the third terminal is connected to the wide lead portion by a third wire. 14 . The switching device according to claim 13 , wherein the plurality of first wires are arranged substantially parallel to each other. 15 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein a length of the sealing portion of the third terminal is shorter than a length of the sealing portion of the first terminal. 16 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein the exposed portion of the control terminal and the exposed portion of the third terminal are disposed between the exposed portion of the first terminal and the exposed portion of the second terminal. 17 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein the control electrode is disposed on a side portion of the power switching element close to the control terminal. 18 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein the power switching element is a SiC MOSFET. 19 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein the power switching element is a SiC trench MOSFET. 20 . The switching device according to claim 18 , wherein the third terminal is a drive terminal or a source sense terminal. 21 . The switching device according to claim 18 , wherein the control electrode is a gate electrode, the first electrode is a source electrode, and the second electrode is a drain electrode. 22 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein each of the plurality of first wires has a constant resistance value. 23 . The switching device according to claim 9 , wherein each of the plurality of first wires has the same constituent material, length, and wire diameter respectively.
