Official abstract text for this publication.
A communication apparatus has a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver, in operation receives a control signal including a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) Index, a channel quality indicator (CQI) trigger and information indicating uplink resource blocks. The transmitter in operation, determines whether to multiplex an aperiodic CQI report with data in an uplink signal based on the MCS Index, the channel quality indicator trigger, the information indicating uplink resource blocks, and a threshold number of resource blocks, and transmits the uplink signal.

1 . A base station comprising: a transmitter that transmits a control channel signal to a mobile terminal, wherein the control channel signal comprises a Modulation and Coding Scheme, MCS Index, information on resource blocks to be used for a transmission from the mobile terminal to the base station, and a channel quality information trigger for triggering a transmission of an aperiodic channel quality information report from the mobile terminal to the base station, and a receiver that receives from the mobile terminal the aperiodic channel quality information report, which is not multiplexed with data transmitted via an Uplink Shared Channel, UL-SCH, in case the channel quality information trigger is set and the control channel signal indicates a pre-determined value of the MCS Index and also indicates a number of resource blocks that is smaller than or equal to a pre-determined number of resource blocks. 2 . The base station according to claim 1 , wherein the pre-determined MCS Index has a value of 29. 3 . The base station according to claim 1 , which is configured to receive the aperiodic channel quality information report on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel, PUSCH, based on one of a plurality of reporting modes. 4 . The base station according to claim 1 , wherein the channel quality information trigger is a Channel Quality Indicator request bit. 5 . The base station according to claim 1 , wherein the pre-determined MCS Index indicates a redundancy version with a value of 1. 6 . The base station according to claim 5 , wherein the redundancy version with value 1 is a redundancy version infrequently used for data retransmission. 7 . The base station according to claim 1 , wherein the channel quality information is at least one of a channel quality indicator, a precoding matrix indicator, or a rank indicator. 8 . A method comprising the following steps performed by a base station: transmitting a control channel signal to a mobile terminal, wherein the control channel signal comprises a Modulation and Coding Scheme, MCS, Index information on resource blocks to be used for a transmission from the mobile terminal to the base station, and a channel quality information trigger for triggering a transmission of an aperiodic channel quality information report from the mobile terminal to the base station, and receiving from the mobile terminal the aperiodic channel quality information report, which is not multiplexed with data transmitted via an Uplink Shared Channel, UL-SCH, in case when the channel quality information trigger is set and the control channel signal indicates a pre-determined value of the MCS Index and also indicates a number of resource blocks that is smaller than or equal to a pre-determined number of resource blocks. 9 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the pre-determined MCS Index has a value of 29. 10 . The method according to claim 8 , comprising the step performed by the base station of receiving the aperiodic channel quality information report on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel, PUSCH, based on one of a plurality of reporting modes. 11 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein a Physical Uplink Shared Channel, PUSCH, is used to receive the aperiodic channel quality information report. 12 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the channel quality information trigger is a Channel Quality Indicator request bit. 13 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the pre-determined MCS Index indicates a redundancy version with a value of 1. 14 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the redundancy version with value 1 is a redundancy version infrequently used for data retransmission. 15 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the channel quality information is at least one of a channel quality indicator, a precoding matrix indicator, or a rank indicator.
