Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A saw blade for use with a power tool includes a body with a first planar surface and a second planar surface opposite the first planar surface. The saw blade also includes an attachment portion that is configured to couple to the power tool. The attachment portion includes a tang and an aperture. The saw blade further includes a cutting edge with a plurality of cutting teeth and a plurality of hexagons formed on the first planar surface. The plurality of hexagons are arranged in a honeycomb pattern in which at least one side of each hexagon is substantially parallel to a corresponding side of an adjacent hexagon.

1 - 20 . (canceled) 21 . A saw blade for use with a power tool, the saw blade comprising: a body including a first planar surface and a second planar surface opposite the first planar surface, the body defining a longitudinal axis that extends centrally through the saw blade; an attachment portion configured to couple to the power tool, the attachment portion including a tang and an aperture; a cutting edge including a plurality of cutting teeth; and a spring portion formed on the body, the spring portion including a slot and a spring element. 22 . The saw blade of claim 21 , wherein the slot extends from the spring element to a back edge of the body opposite the cutting edge. 23 . The saw blade of claim 21 , wherein the spring element includes an opening and a flexible arm. 24 . The saw blade of claim 23 , wherein the slot extends into the opening. 25 . The saw blade of claim 23 , wherein the flexible arm is a first flexible arm, and the spring element includes a second flexible arm and a third flexible arm. 26 . The saw blade of claim 25 , wherein the first flexible arm, the second flexible arm, and the third flexible arm join together at a center of the spring element. 27 . The saw blade of claim 23 , wherein the flexible arm extends across the opening. 28 . The saw blade of claim 23 , wherein the flexible arm is arcuately shaped. 29 . The saw blade of claim 23 , wherein the flexible arm is arched shaped. 30 . The saw blade of claim 21 , wherein the spring element is intersected by the longitudinal axis. 31 . The saw blade of claim 21 , wherein the spring element is positioned between the cutting edge and a back edge of the body opposite the cutting edge. 32 . The saw blade of claim 21 , wherein the slot extends from the cutting edge. 33 . The saw blade of claim 21 , wherein the spring element is positioned approximately halfway between the cutting edge and a back edge of the body opposite the cutting edge. 34 . The saw blade of claim 21 , wherein the slot is formed approximate the cutting edge and the spring element is formed approximate a back edge of the body opposite the cutting edge. 35 . A saw blade for use with a power tool, the saw blade comprising: a body including a first planar surface and a second planar surface opposite the first planar surface, the body defining a longitudinal axis that extends centrally through the saw blade; an attachment portion configured to couple to the power tool, the attachment portion including a tang and an aperture; a cutting edge including a plurality of cutting teeth; and a flexible portion formed on the body between the attachment portion and an end of the body opposite the attachment portion. 36 . The saw blade of claim 35 , wherein the flexible portion includes a bridge member, a follower member, and a slot defined between the bridge member and the follower member. 37 . The saw blade of claim 36 , wherein the bridge member and the follower member bend independently of one another. 38 . The saw blade of claim 36 , wherein the slot includes a first leg and a second leg angled relative to the first leg. 39 . The saw blade of claim 38 , wherein the first leg extends from the cutting edge towards a back edge of the body opposite the cutting edge and the second leg extends from the first leg in a direction that is substantially parallel to the cutting edge. 40 . The saw blade of claim 36 , wherein the bridge member defines a portion of a back edge of the body opposite the cutting edge and the follower member defines a portion of the cutting edge.
