Abstract

An image forming apparatus that executes a password-protected job includes a function for omitting an input of a job password, manages a user password for keyboard authentication in association with a user, manages a personal identification number for icon authentication in association with the user, accepts login to an account of the user based on the keyboard authentication, permits execution of a password-protected print job associated with the user based on a print instruction without inputting a job password, accepts login to the account of the user based on the icon authentication, and permits execution of a password-protected print job associated with the user based on a print instruction with an input of a job password.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1 . An image forming apparatus comprising:
an operation device; one or more memories which store a set of instructions; and at least one processor to execute the set of instructions to perform operations including: storing, in a storage device, a print job with a job password, controlling the operation device to display at least one user icon, receiving, in a case where a password is set in a first user icon included in the at least one user icon, a selection of the first user icon and an input of the password by a user, receiving, in a case where a password is not set in a second user icon included in the at least one user icon, a selection of the second user icon by the user without receiving an input of a password, performing, in a case where the selection of the first user icon and the input password are received by the user, the stored print job with the job password without inputting the job password, and performing, in a case where the selection of the second user icon are received without the input of the password by the user, the stored print job with the job password based on inputting the job password.

2 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 ,
wherein a setting is stored in the one or more memories and indicates whether to omit the input of the job password, and wherein, in a case where the setting indicates to omit the input of the job password and the selection of the first user icon and the input password are received by the user, the set of instructions to perform operations further includes performing the stored print job with the job password without inputting the job password.

3 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 ,
wherein at least one print job with a job password is stored in association with the user in the storage device, and wherein the set of instructions to perform operations further includes controlling the operation device to display a list of the stored at least one print job with the job password stored in association with the user for whom the user icon is selected.

4 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein, in a case where an instruction for printing a print job included in the list is received, the set of instructions to perform operations further includes performing the print job based on the instruction for printing.

5 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein, in a case where an instruction for deleting a print job included in the list is received, the set of instructions to perform operations further includes deleting the print job based on the instruction for deleting.

6 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the storage device is included in the image forming apparatus.

7 . A method for an image forming apparatus having an operation device, the method comprising:
storing, in a storage device, a print job with a job password; controlling the operation device to display at least one user icon; receiving, in a case where a password is set in a first user icon included in the at least one user icon, a selection of the first user icon and an input of the password by a user; receiving, in a case where a password is not set in a second user icon included in the at least one user icon, a selection of the second user icon by the user without receiving an input of a password; performing, in a case where the selection of the first user icon and the input password are received by the user, the stored print job with the job password without inputting the job password; and performing, in a case where the selection of the second user icon are received without the input of the password by the user, the stored print job with the job password based on inputting the job password.

8 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program to cause a computer to perform a method for an image forming apparatus having an operation device, the method comprising:
storing, in a storage device, a print job with a job password; controlling the operation device to display at least one user icon; receiving, in a case where a password is set in a first user icon included in the at least one user icon, a selection of the first user icon and an input of the password by a user; receiving, in a case where a password is not set in a second user icon included in the at least one user icon, a selection of the second user icon by the user without receiving an input of a password; performing, in a case where the selection of the first user icon and the input password are received by the user, the stored print job with the job password without inputting the job password; and performing, in a case where the selection of the second user icon are received without the input of the password by the user, the stored print job with the job password based on inputting the job password.

9 . An image forming apparatus comprising:
an operation device; one or more memories which store a set of instructions; and at least one processor to execute the set of instructions to perform operations including: storing, in a storage device, a print job with a job password, controlling the operation device to display at least one user icon, performing, in a case where a password is associated with a first user icon included in the at least one user icon, the stored print job with the job password corresponding to the first user icon without inputting the job password, and performing, in a case where a password is not associated with a second user icon included in the at least one user icon, the stored print job with the job password corresponding to the second user icon based on inputting the job password.

10 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the set of instructions to perform operations further includes:
performing, in a case where a password is set in the first user icon included in the at least one user icon, the stored print job with the job password corresponding to the first user icon without inputting the job password, and performing, in a case where a password is not set in the second user icon included in the at least one user icon, the stored print job with the job password corresponding to the second user icon based on inputting the job password.

11 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the set of instructions to perform operations further includes:
performing, in a case where the first user icon included in the at least one user icon is selected and the password set in the first user icon is inputted, the stored print job with the job password corresponding to the first user icon without inputting the job password, and performing, in a case where the second user icon included in the at least one user icon is selected and a password is not inputted, the stored print job with the job password corresponding to the second user icon based on inputting the job password.
