1 .- 6 . (canceled) 7 . A method of applying a biochar to a sod, the method comprising: contacting a root side of the sod with the biochar, thereby adhering the biochar to the root side of the sod; wherein the biochar consists essentially of pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified biomass or wherein the biochar does not comprise pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified fossil fuel; and wherein the biochar comprises at least 55 wt % carbon. 8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the adhering further comprises applying pressure to the sod and the biochar. 9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the adhering further comprises adding, to the biochar or to the root side of the sod, a substance that improves the adhesion of the biochar to the root side of the sod; wherein the adding occurs before the contacting the root side of the sod with the biochar 10 . A turf sod composition comprising a sod and a biochar, wherein the sod comprises a root side, and wherein the biochar is attached to the root side of the sod; wherein the biochar consists essentially of pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified biomass or wherein the biochar does not comprise pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified fossil fuel; and wherein the biochar comprises at least 55 wt % carbon. 11 . A plant root ball composition comprising a root ball, soil, and a biochar, wherein the biochar is attached to surface of the root ball; wherein the biochar consists essentially of pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified biomass or wherein the biochar does not comprise pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified fossil fuel; and wherein the biochar comprises at least 55 wt % carbon. 12 . A plant root ball composition comprising a root tissue, a soil, a wrap, and a biochar; wherein the wrap surrounds the root tissue and the soil; and wherein the biochar is attached to a surface of the wrap or is positioned between the wrap and the root tissue; wherein the biochar consists essentially of pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified biomass or wherein the biochar does not comprise pyrolyzed, torrefied, or gasified fossil fuel; and wherein the biochar comprises at least 55 wt % carbon.
