A binder that is used for forming fiber-based items and that binds fibers contains a polyester and an aggregation inhibitor. The polyester contains a structural unit derived from polyethylene terephthalate, a structural unit derived from at least one polyvalent carboxylic acid, and a structural unit derived from at least one polyhydric alcohol including trimethylolpropane. The binder exhibits a viscosity coefficient higher than 3500 P at 150° C. in dynamic viscoelasticity measurement.

What is claimed is: 1 . A binder that is used for forming fiber-based items and that binds fibers, the binder comprising: a polyester containing a structural unit derived from polyethylene terephthalate, a structural unit derived from at least one polyvalent carboxylic acid, and a structural unit derived from at least one polyhydric alcohol including trimethylolpropane; and an aggregation inhibitor, wherein the binder exhibits a viscosity coefficient higher than 3500 poises at 150° C. in dynamic viscoelasticity measurement. 2 . The binder according to claim 1 , wherein the binder has a glass transition temperature of 65° C. or more. 3 . The binder according to claim 1 , wherein the binder has a softening point of 150° C. or less. 4 . The binder according to claim 1 , wherein the binder has a volume average particle size of 12 Km or less. 5 . An apparatus for forming a fiber-based item, the apparatus comprising: the binder according to claim 1 . 6 . A method for forming a fiber-based item, comprising: mixing fibers and a binder containing a polyester and an aggregation inhibitor to prepare a mixture, the polyester containing a structural unit derived from polyethylene terephthalates, a structural unit derived from at least one polyvalent carboxylic acid, and a structural unit derived from at least one polyhydric alcohol including trimethylolpropane; and heating the mixture, wherein the binder exhibits a viscosity coefficient higher than 3500 poises at 150° C. in dynamic viscoelasticity measurement.
