Abstract

A compound serving as coalescing agent and a coating composition employing the compound are provided. The compound has a structure represented by Formula (I)wherein n is 0, 1, 2, or 3; m is 0, 1, 2, or 3; R1 isR2 isR3, R4, R5, and R6 are independently C1-12 alkyl group; and, R1 is distinct from R2 when n is equal to m.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1 . A compound, which has a structure represented by Formula (I)

wherein n is 0, 1, 2, or 3; m is 0, 1, 2, or 3; R 1 is or

R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 are independently C1-12 alkyl group; and, R 1 is distinct from R 2 when n is equal to m.

2 . The compound as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the compound is

an aqueous resin; and a coalescing agent, wherein the coalescing agent is the compound as claimed in claim 1 .

12 . The coating composition as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the aqueous resin is epoxy resin, polyurethane resin, acrylic resin, polyester resin, or a combination thereof.

13 . The coating composition as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the weight ratio of the coalescing agent to the aqueous resin is from 0.1:100 to 10:100.
