Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A fishing reel includes a reel body, a drive shaft, a handle, a one-way clutch, and a seal mechanism. The drive shaft is rotatably supported by the reel body. The handle includes a handle arm extending in a direction intersecting the drive shaft, and a handle-side accommodating part in which the drive shaft is partially accommodated. The one-way clutch is disposed in the handle-side accommodating part and transmits only rotation of the handle in the fishing line winding direction to the drive shaft. The seal mechanism prevents water from entering the handle-side accommodating part from the outside.

What is claimed is: 1 . A fishing reel comprising: a reel body; a drive shaft rotatably supported by the reel body; a handle that includes a handle arm extending in a direction intersecting with the drive shaft, and a handle-side accommodating part configured to partially accommodate the drive shaft; a one-way clutch disposed in the handle-side accommodating part and configured to transmit only rotation of the handle in a fishing line winding direction to the drive shaft; and a seal mechanism configured to prevent water from entering the handle-side accommodating part from outside. 2 . The fishing reel according to claim 1 , further comprising a cover member configured to cover the handle-side accommodating part, d wherein the seal mechanism is further configured to seal between the cover member and the handle-side accommodating part. 3 . The fishing reel according to claim 1 , wherein the handle-side accommodating part is formed in the handle arm so as to be recessed in an axial direction of the drive shaft. 4 . The fishing reel according to claim 2 , wherein the one-way clutch includes a ratchet gear non-rotatably mounted on the drive shaft, and a ratchet claw engageable with the ratchet gear, the ratchet claw configured to transmit only rotation of the handle in one direction to the ratchet gear. 5 . The fishing reel according to claim 4 , further comprising an elastic member disposed between the handle arm and the ratchet gear in the axial direction and frictionally engaged with the ratchet gear. 6 . The fishing reel according to claim 1 , wherein the reel body includes a body-side accommodating part in which a part of the drive shaft is disposed, the body-side accommodating part disposed adjacent to the handle-side accommodating part in the axial direction, and the seal mechanism is further configured to seal a gap in the axial direction between the handle-side accommodating part and the body-side accommodating part. 7 . The fishing reel according to claim 6 , further comprising: a spool rotatably supported by the reel body; and a rotation transmission mechanism configured to transmit rotation of the handle to the spool, the rotation transmission mechanism including a speed change mechanism configured to switch a speed of the rotation of the handle between a high speed and a low speed. 8 . The fishing reel according to claim 1 , wherein the handle-side accommodating part is formed integrally with the handle arm at an end of the handle arm adjacent to the drive shaft. 9 . The fishing reel according to claim 1 , wherein the seal mechanism includes an annular convex portion and an annular concave portion, the annular convex portion protruding in an axial direction of the drive shaft and the annular concave portion recessed in the axial direction to receive the annular convex portion. 10 . The fishing reel according to claim 2 , wherein the cover member includes a cover part and a fixing part, the cover part configured to cover the handle-side accommodating part with a gap formed between the cover part and the handle-side accommodating part, the fixing part configured to fix the cover member to the drive shaft, and the seal mechanism is further configured to seal the gap formed between the cover part and the handle-side accommodating part.
