A test cock for determining an operating condition of a backflow prevention system includes a body portion having a distal end and a proximal end and a space defined within the body portion. A distal opening is provided on the body portion at the distal end and a proximal opening is provided on the body portion at the proximal end and the proximal opening is in fluid connection with the body portion space. A body portion fitting is disposed in the body portion and is providing a fluid connection with the body portion space. A fluid sensor is coupled to the body portion fitting and is in fluid connection with the body portion space. A rotating system fitting has a first end and a second end where the second end is provided in the body portion proximal opening.

What is claimed is: 1 . A test cock for determining an operating condition of a backflow prevention system, comprising: a body portion having a distal end and a proximal end; a space defined within the body portion; a distal opening provided on the body portion at the distal end; a proximal opening provided on the body portion at the proximal end, wherein the proximal opening is in fluid connection with the body portion space; a body portion fitting disposed in the body portion, the body portion fitting providing a fluid connection with the body portion space; and a fluid sensor, coupled to the body portion fitting, in fluid connection with the body portion space. 2 . The test cock of claim 1 , further comprising: a system fitting, having a first end and a second end, the second end provided in the body portion proximal opening. 3 . The test cock of claim 2 , wherein a lumen defined in the system fitting is in fluid connection with the body portion space. 4 . The test cock of claim 2 , wherein the system fitting first end is threaded. 5 . The test cock of claim 2 , further comprising a spring clip coupling the system fitting to the body portion proximal end. 6 . The test cock of claim 5 , wherein the body portion proximal opening is configured to rotate within the system fitting. 7 . The test cock of claim 1 , wherein the fluid sensor comprises at least one of: a pressure sensor; a temperature sensor; a pH sensor; a salinity sensor; and a wet/dry sensor. 8 . The test cock of claim 1 , further comprising: a ball valve, disposed in the body portion, in fluid connection with the distal opening and the body portion space. 9 . The test cock of claim 1 , further comprising a spring clip coupling the fluid sensor to the body portion fitting. 10 . The test cock of claim 1 , wherein the second end of the system fitting is provided in the body portion proximal opening and is configured to rotate within the body portion proximal opening. 11 . The test cock of claim 1 , further comprising: a catch portion, provided on the body portion, having an outside diameter greater than an outside diameter of the proximal end of the body portion; and a catch groove, provided on the body portion, adjacent to the catch portion. 12 . A backflow prevention system, comprising: a backflow preventer; a system fitting, having a first end and a second end, provided on the backflow preventer; and a test cock, comprising: a body portion having a distal end and a proximal end; a space defined within the body portion; a distal opening provided on the body portion at the distal end; a proximal opening provided on the body portion at the proximal end, wherein the proximal opening is in fluid connection with the body portion space; a body portion fitting disposed in the body portion, the body portion fitting providing a fluid connection with the body portion space; and a fluid sensor, coupled to the body portion fitting, in fluid connection with the body portion space, wherein the second end of the system fitting is coupled to the body portion proximal end. 13 . The backflow prevention system of claim 12 , wherein the second end of the system fitting is provided in the body portion proximal opening. 14 . The backflow prevention system of claim 13 , further comprising a spring clip coupling the system fitting to the body portion proximal end. 15 . The test cock of claim 12 , wherein the second end of the system fitting is provided in the body portion proximal opening and is configured to rotate within the body portion proximal opening. 16 . The backflow prevention system of claim 12 , wherein the test cock further comprises: a ball valve, disposed in the body portion, in fluid connection with the distal opening and the body portion space. 17 . The backflow prevention system of claim 12 , wherein the fluid sensor comprises at least one of: a pressure sensor; a temperature sensor; a pH sensor; a salinity sensor; and a wet/dry sensor. 18 . The backflow prevention system of claim 12 , wherein the test cock further comprises a spring clip coupling the fluid sensor to the body portion fitting. 19 . The backflow prevention system of claim 12 , wherein: the test cock further comprises: a catch portion, provided on the body portion having an outside diameter greater than an outside diameter of the proximal end of the body portion, wherein the catch portion is sized to be received by the system fitting second end; and a catch groove, provided on the body portion, adjacent to the catch portion, and wherein the backflow prevention system further comprises a spring clip coupling the test cock catch groove to the system fitting.
