Official abstract text for this publication.
A vehicle control device which at least partially automatically performs travel control of a vehicle includes processor(s) which diagnose failure of functions related to automated driving and to continue the automated driving with the functions partially stopped when a failure is diagnosed, and a light emission unit which provides notification to a surrounding of the vehicle by light emission that the vehicle is controlled in a fallback operation. The processor(s) detect an operation state of the light emission unit, permit execution of the automated driving when the light emission unit operates normally and prohibits the automated driving when the light emission unit does not operate normally.

1 . A vehicle control device configured to at least partially automatically perform travel control of a vehicle by automated driving, the vehicle control device comprising: one or more processors configured to diagnose failure of functions related to automated driving of the vehicle, and to continue the automated driving with the functions partially stopped when a failure is diagnosed; and a light emission unit configured to provide notification to surrounding of the vehicle by light emission notifying that the vehicle is controlled in a fallback operation; wherein the one or more processors detect an operation state of the light emission unit, permit execution of the automated driving when a detection result expressing that the light emission unit operates normally is acquired, and prohibit the execution of the automated driving when a detection result expressing that the light emission unit does not operate normally is acquired. 2 . A vehicle control device configured to at least partially automatically perform travel control of a vehicle by automated driving, the vehicle control device comprising: one or more processors configured to diagnose failure of functions related to automated driving of the vehicle, and to continue the automated driving with the functions partially stopped when a failure is diagnosed; and a hazard lamp configured to provide notification to surrounding of the vehicle by light emission; wherein the one or more processors detect an operation state of the hazard lamp, permit execution of the automated driving when a detection result expressing that the hazard lamp operates normally is acquired, and prohibit the execution of the automated driving when a detection result expressing that the hazard lamp does not operate normally is acquired.
