Disclosed herein are a chromium compound represented by Formula 1a or 1c and a catalyst system including the same, exhibiting superior catalytic activity in an olefin trimerization reaction: [{CH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 CH(CH 2 CH 3 )CO 2 } 2 Cr(OH)] [Formula 1a] [{CH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 CH(CH 2 CH 3 )CO 2 } 2 Cr(OH)] 4 .2H 2 O. 1 . A chromium compound represented by Formula 1a: {CH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 CH(CH 2 CH 3 )CO 2 } 2 Cr(OH) [Formula 1a] 2 . A chromium compound represented by Formula 1c: [{CH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 CH(CH 2 CH 3 )CO 2 } 2 Cr(OH)] 4 .2H 2 O. [Formula 1c] 3 . The chromium compound of claim 2 prepared by the reaction of CH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 CH(CH 2 CH 3 )CO 2 Na and CrCl 3 in the two phases composed of water and hydrocarbon solvents. 4 . The chromium compound of claim 2 having IR spectrum of FIG. 1 . 5 . A method of preparing the chromium compound represented by Formula 1c, comprising reacting a trivalent chromium salt compound represented by Formula 6 with a carboxylate alkali metal salt represented by Formula 7 in the two phases composed of water and hydrocarbon solvents: [{CH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 CH(CH 2 CH 3 )CO 2 } 2 Cr(OH)] 4 .2H 2 O [Formula 1c] Cr(X 1 ) 3 [Formula 6] wherein X 1 is halogen atom, a nitrate ion (NO 3 ), or a perchlorate ion (ClO 4 ) {CH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 CH(CH 2 CH 3 )CO 2 }M [Formula 7] wherein M is sodium (Na), potassium (K) or lithium (Li). 6 . The method of preparing the chromium compound of claim 5 , wherein X 1 in Formula 6 is Cl and M in Formula 7 is Na. 7 . The method of preparing the chromium compound of claim 5 , wherein the hydrocarbon solvent is C 4 to C 20 aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, a C 6 to C 20 aromatic hydrocarbon solvent or a mixture thereof.
