What is claimed is: 1 . A method comprising: heating a solid, naturally occurring mineral so that at least a portion of the solid naturally occurring mineral melts to form an at least partially molten naturally occurring mineral; and quenching the at least partially molten naturally occurring mineral in water so that at least a portion of the quenched naturally occurring mineral is in amorphous form. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the quenched naturally occurring mineral comprises approximately 10% to approximately 99% by weight amorphous form. 3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the quenched naturally occurring mineral is at least partially hyaloclastite. 4 . The method of claim 3 further comprising grinding the quenched naturally occurring mineral to a powder having volume-based mean particle size of less than or equal to 40 μm. 5 . The method of claim 4 further comprising combining the powder with portland cement, aggregate, and water. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the naturally occurring mineral is basalt, intermediate, andesite, dacite, rhyolite or combinations or mixtures thereof. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the naturally occurring mineral is olivine, pyroxene, amphibole, biotite, plagioclase, orthoclase, muscovite, quartz or combinations or mixtures thereof. 8 . A product made by the method of claim 1 . 9 . The product of claim 8 further comprising a hydraulic cement. 10 . The product of claim 9 , wherein the hydraulic cement is portland cement. 11 . The product of claim 10 further comprising aggregate and water to hydrate the portland cement.
