Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A client computer batch message transaction group is defined that corresponds to a set of client computers. A set of separate messages is received from at least some of the client computers in the client computer batch message transaction group. For each given separate message of the set of separate messages, a write is performed to a single message reception queue, and a determination is made regarding whether the given separate message was successfully written to the single message reception queue. Responsive to a determination that all messages of the set of separate messages were successfully written to the single message reception queue, all of the messages of the set of separate messages are written to disk as a single disk write.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method comprising: by a processor of a server computer: defining a client computer batch message transaction group corresponding to a plurality of client computers; receiving a plurality of separate messages from at least some of the client computers in the client computer batch message transaction group; for each given separate message of the plurality of separate messages: performing a write of the given separate message to a single message reception queue; and determining whether the given separate message was successfully written to the single message reception queue; and responsive to a determination that all messages of the plurality of separate messages were successfully written to the single message reception queue, writing all of the messages of the plurality of separate messages to disk as a single disk write. 2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the processor assigning, via a server application of the server computer, a single thread to process the plurality of separate messages received from the client computer batch message transaction group. 3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the processor sending an acknowledgement to each client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group responsive to writing all of the messages of the plurality of separate messages to disk as the single disk write. 4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the processor: sending a rollback indication to any client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group if the given separate message received from the respective client computer was not successfully written to the single message reception queue; and writing any of the messages of the plurality of separate messages that were successfully written to the single message reception queue to the disk as the single disk write. 5 . The method of claim 1 , where each of the plurality of client computers has a separate communication channel with the server computer, and further comprising the processor terminating each separate communication channel associated with each client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group in response to a decision to rollback the single disk write. 6 . The method of claim 1 , where the processor defining the client computer batch message transaction group corresponding to the plurality of client computers comprises the processor creating the client computer batch message transaction group by selecting the plurality of client computers according to one of: a determination that each client application of each client computer in the plurality of client computers produces a same message or similar messages to each other client application; or historical statistics to provide efficiency within the client computer batch message transaction group relative to individual client message processing. 7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the processor performing pre-processing checks on each client application of each client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group before commencement of the single disk write comprising receiving a client identifier via a server middleware application from each client application of each client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group. 8 . A system, comprising: a storage disk; and a processor of a server computer programmed to: define a client computer batch message transaction group corresponding to a plurality of client computers; receive a plurality of separate messages from at least some of the client computers in the client computer batch message transaction group; for each given separate message of the plurality of separate messages: perform a write of the given separate message to a single message reception queue; and determine whether the given separate message was successfully written to the single message reception queue; and responsive to a determination that all messages of the plurality of separate messages were successfully written to the single message reception queue, write all of the messages of the plurality of separate messages to the storage disk as a single disk write. 9 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising the processor being programmed to assign, via a server application of the server computer, a single thread to process the plurality of separate messages received from the client computer batch message transaction group. 10 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising the processor being programmed to send an acknowledgement to each client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group responsive to writing all of the messages of the plurality of separate messages to the storage disk as the single disk write. 11 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising the processor being programmed to: send a rollback indication to any client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group if the given separate message received from the respective client computer was not successfully written to the single message reception queue; and write any of the messages of the plurality of separate messages that were successfully written to the single message reception queue to the storage disk as the single disk write. 12 . The system of claim 8 , where each of the plurality of client computers has a separate communication channel with the server computer, and further comprising the processor being programmed to terminate each separate communication channel associated with each client computer in the client computer batch message transaction group in response to a decision to rollback the single disk write. 13 . The system of claim 8 , where, in being programmed to define the client computer batch message transaction group corresponding to the plurality of client computers, the processor is programmed to create the client computer batch message transaction group by selecting the plurality of client computers according to one of: a determination that each client application of each client computer in the plurality of client computers produces a same message or similar messages to each other client application; or historical statistics to provide efficiency within the client computer batch message transaction group relative to individual client message processing. 14 . A computer program product, comprising: a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied therewith, where the computer readable storage medium is not a transitory signal per se and where the computer readable program code when executed on a server computer causes the server computer to: define a client computer batch message transaction group corresponding to a plurality of client computers; receive a plurality of separate messages from at least some of the client computers in the client computer batch message transaction group; for each given separate message of the plurality of separate messages: perform a write of the given separate message to a single message reception queue; and determine whether the given separate message was successfully written to the single message reception queue; and responsive to a determination that all messages of the plurality of separate messages were successfully written to the single message reception queue, write all of the messages of the plurality of separate messages to disk as a single disk write. 15 . The computer program product of claim 14 , where the computer readable program code when executed on the server computer further
