What is claimed is: 1 . A negative electrode active material comprising: a compound represented by a composition formula of Mg x Me 1-x O 1-x H 2x, where Me is at least one selected from the group consisting of Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu, and 0.5≤x≤0.9. 2 . The negative electrode active material according to claim 1 , wherein 0.7≤x≤0.9. 3 . The negative electrode active material according to claim 2 , wherein Me is one selected from the group consisting of Mn, Co, Ni, and Cu. 4 . The negative electrode active material according to claim 3 , wherein Me is Co or Ni, and 0.80≤x≤0.85. 5 . The negative electrode active material according to claim 1 , wherein Me is at least one selected from the group consisting of Mn, Fe, and Cu. 6 . A battery comprising: a negative electrode including the negative electrode active material according to claim 1 ; a positive electrode; and an electrolyte.
