1 - 20 . (canceled) 21 . A rear trunnion assembly for a firearm, the rear trunnion assembly comprising: a modular rear trunnion fitting attached to a rear portion of a receiver of the firearm, the modular rear trunnion fitting comprising a rear connection feature, an upper portion, and a lower portion; and a removable tang removably installed to a rear side of the modular rear trunnion fitting, wherein: the removable tang is configured to engage a fixed stock. 22 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 21 , wherein the modular rear trunnion fitting is a modular split rear trunnion fitting that comprises a first arm and a second arm, which are separated by an open space, wherein the first and second arms each extend toward a front of the receiver. 23 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 21 , wherein the removable tang comprises a recess that engages the rear connection feature of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 24 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 23 , wherein the recess of the removable tang comprises a rounded keyhole shape that is complementary to a shape of the rear connection feature of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 25 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 23 , wherein the recess comprises an opening on an upper side of the removable tang such that the removable tang interfaces with an underside of the rear connection feature of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 26 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 21 , wherein the removable tang comprises a forward portion that interfaces with an underside surface of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 27 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 26 , wherein the forward portion of the removable tang comprises a mounting hole that is aligned with an upper mounting hole of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 28 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 26 , wherein the underside surface of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting comprises a recessed area that has a complementary shape to a shape of the forward portion of the removable tang. 29 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 21 , wherein an underside surface of the removable tang is approximately coplanar with an underside surface of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting when the removable tang is installed. 30 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 21 , wherein, when the removable tang is uninstalled, the rear connection feature is configured to engage a folding hinge fitting. 31 . A rear trunnion assembly for a firearm, the rear trunnion assembly comprising: a modular rear trunnion fitting attached to a rear portion of a receiver of the firearm, the modular rear trunnion fitting comprising an upper portion and a lower portion; and a removable tang removably installed to a rear side of the modular rear trunnion fitting, wherein: the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting comprises a rear connection feature extending rearward from the upper portion; the rear connection feature is the only part of the modular rear trunnion fitting that extends beyond a rear end of the receiver; and the removable tang is configured to engage a fixed stock. 32 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 31 , wherein the modular rear trunnion fitting is a modular split rear trunnion fitting that comprises a first arm and a second arm, which are separated by an open space, wherein the first and second arms each extend toward a front of the receiver. 33 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 31 , wherein the removable tang comprises a recess that engages the rear connection feature of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 34 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 33 , wherein the recess of the removable tang comprises a rounded keyhole shape that is complementary to a shape of the rear connection feature of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 35 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 33 , wherein the recess comprises an opening on an upper side of the removable tang such that the removable tang interfaces with an underside of the rear connection feature of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 36 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 31 , wherein the removable tang comprises a forward portion that interfaces with an underside surface of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 37 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 36 , wherein the forward portion of the removable tang comprises a mounting hole that is aligned with an upper mounting hole of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting. 38 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 36 , wherein the underside surface of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting comprises a recessed area that has a complementary shape to a shape of the forward portion of the removable tang. 39 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 31 , wherein an underside surface of the removable tang is approximately coplanar with an underside surface of the upper portion of the modular rear trunnion fitting when the removable tang is installed. 40 . The rear trunnion assembly of claim 31 , wherein, when the removable tang is uninstalled, the rear connection feature is configured to engage a folding hinge fitting.
