Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A vehicle slouch seat having a carriage that includes a front side and a rear side. A link element is located on a rear side of the carriage and a slideable element is located on the front side of the carriage. A cushion is movable in an upward direction with the carriage connected to a base structure at one of a plurality of latch points. The cushion is prevented being rotated in the upward direction via a cushion rotational prevention structure with the carriage connected to the base structure at another one of the plurality of latch points.

1 . A vehicle slouch seat, comprising: a carriage comprising a front side and a rear side; a link element located on said rear side of said carriage; a slideable element located on said front side of said carriage. 2 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising: a cushion; a base structure; a latching element, said carriage and said cushion being locked to said base structure via said latching element. 3 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said cushion is in a substantially upright position with said carriage in a predetermined position. 4 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising: a rotational lockout means for preventing said cushion from being moved in an upward direction unless said cushion is in a predetermined position. 5 . A latching device for a slouch seat, the latching device comprising: a latching element for locking a carriage and a cushion to a base structure; and a rotational lockout means for preventing the cushion from moving in an upward direction unless said cushion is in a predetermined position. 6 . (canceled) 7 . A vehicle slouch seat, comprising: a carriage; a link element connected to said carriage; and a slidable element connected to said carriage. 8 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 7 , further comprising: a base structure; a latching element, at least said carriage being connected to said base structure at one of a plurality of latching points via said latching element. 9 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 8 , further comprising: a cushion connected to said carriage, said cushion being movable from one position to another position with said carriage connected to said base structure in one of said latching points, wherein said cushion is movable relative to said carriage with said carriage connected to said base structure in said one of said latching points. 10 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 9 , wherein said cushion is in a substantially horizontal position in said one position, said cushion being in a substantially vertical position in said another position. 11 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 9 , wherein said cushion is fixed to said carriage and said base structure via said latching element. 12 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 9 , wherein said cushion is fixed dynamically to said carriage via an inertia latch. 13 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 9 , further comprising: a cushion rotational prevention means for restricting movement of said cushion in an upward direction with said carriage connected to said base structure at another one of said plurality of latching points. 14 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 13 , wherein said base structure comprises a cushion stop portion, said cushion rotational prevention means comprising said cushion stop portion. 15 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 9 , wherein said cushion is fixed relative to said carriage with said carriage connected to said base structure at another one of said latching points. 16 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 8 , wherein said link element is pivotably connected to said base structure. 17 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 8 , wherein said slidable element moves relative to said base structure when said carriage moves from said one of said plurality of latching points to another one of said plurality of latching points. 18 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 13 , wherein said plurality of latching points comprise yet another latching point, wherein movement of said cushion is restricted in said upward direction via said cushion rotational prevention means with said carriage connected to said base structure at said yet another latching position. 19 . A vehicle slouch seat in accordance with claim 9 , wherein said cushion comprises a first cushion end portion and a second cushion end portion, said first cushion end portion being located adjacent to at least a portion of said carriage, said second end portion being located at a first distance from said base structure with said carriage connected at said another one of said plurality of latching points, said second cushion end portion being located at a second distance from said base structure with said carriage connected at said yet another one of said latching positions, said second distance being greater than said first distance. 20 . A slouch seat in accordance with claim 17 , wherein said link element is in a first position with said carriage connected to said base structure at said one of said latching points, said link element being at a first angle relative to said carriage with said carriage in said one of said plurality of latching points, said link element being located at a second angle relative to said carriage with said carriage connected to said base structure at said another one of said plurality of latching points, said link element being located at a third angle relative to said carriage with said carriage connected to said base structure at said yet another one of said plurality of latching points, said first angle being less than said second angle and said third angle. 21 . A slouch seat in accordance with claim 14 , wherein said cushion comprises an end portion, said end portion extending to a position beyond said cushion stop portion of said base structure with said carriage connected to said base structure at said one of said latching positions, said end portion being located at a position above said cushion stop portion of said base structure with said carriage connected to said base structure at said another one of said latching points, said end portion being located at another position above said cushion stop portion of said base structure with said carriage connected to said base structure at said yet another one of said latching points.
