Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present disclosure relates to device control and multiple input event handling. In one embodiment, a process includes detecting a plurality of input commands for control of a display device, determining a multiple input event based on the plurality of input commands, and determining a multiple input control function for the display device based on the multiple input event. The multiple input control function is determined based on input type of the multiple input event and a function of the input type of the multiple input event. The process can also includes controlling operation of the display device based on the multiple input control function, wherein controlling includes modifying display device operation from a control function associated with the plurality of input commands to a multiple input event control function

What is claimed is: 1 . A method for processing device control commands by a display device, comprising: detecting a plurality of input commands received at the display device; prior to responding to any one of the plurality of input commands, determining that the plurality of input commands are intended for a single aggregated control event based on a pattern and timing of the plurality of input commands; determining a single aggregated control function associated with the single aggregated control event based on the pattern of the plurality of input commands and one or more control functions associated with the plurality of input commands; and performing the single aggregated control function rather than the one or more control functions associated with the plurality of input commands. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of input commands are transmitted from a remote control to the display device. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of input commands are generated as a result of repetitive pressing of a single control key. 4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the single aggregated control function is of a same type of control function associated with the single control key with at least one modification. 5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the single control key is a volume change key and the at least one modification comprises a rate for volume change in the display device. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of input commands are generated as a result of long pressing of a single control key and the single aggregated control function is of a same type of control function associated with the single control key with at least one modification. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of input commands are generated as a result of rapid pressing of multiple control keys. 8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein determining the single aggregated control function comprises: determining a probability that a single control function is intended among the one or more control functions associated with the plurality of input commands based on comparative number of key presses among the multiple control keys. 9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining that the plurality of input commands are intended for the single aggregated control event comprises determining that the plurality of input commands are intended for the single aggregated control event when the plurality of input commands are received at the display device within a predetermined period of time and a number of plurality of input commands exceeds a predetermined threshold number of commands. 10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the predetermined period of time is between 1 to 5 seconds and the predetermined threshold number of commands is 5. 11 . A device comprising: a display; and a controller configured to control the display, wherein the controller is configured to detect a plurality of input commands received at the device; prior to responding to any one of the plurality of input commands, determine that the plurality of input commands are intended for a single aggregated control event based on a pattern and timing of the plurality of input commands; determine a single aggregated control function associated with the single aggregated control event based on the pattern of the plurality of input commands and one or more control functions associated with the plurality of input commands; and perform the single aggregated control function rather than the one or more control functions associated with the plurality of input commands. 12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of input commands are transmitted from a remote control to the device. 13 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of input commands are generated as a result of repetitive pressing of a single control key. 14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the single aggregated control function is of a same type of control function associated with the single control key with at least one modification. 15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the single control key is a volume change key and the at least one modification comprises a rate for volume change in the device. 16 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of input commands are generated as a result of long pressing of a single control key and the single aggregated control function is of a same type of control function associated with the single control key with at least one modification. 17 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of input commands are generated as a result of rapid pressing of multiple control keys. 18 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the controller is configured to determine the single aggregated control function by determining a probability that a single control function is intended among the one or more control functions associated with the plurality of input commands based on comparative number of key presses among the multiple control keys. 19 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the controller is configured to determine that the plurality of input commands are intended for the single aggregated control event by determining that the plurality of input commands are intended for the single aggregated control event when the plurality of input commands are received at the device within a predetermined period of time and a number of plurality of input commands exceeds a predetermined threshold number of commands. 20 . The device of claim 19 , wherein the predetermined period of time is between 1 to 5 seconds and the predetermined threshold number of commands is 5.
