Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A device for removing a clot from a blood vessel. The device can have a collapsed delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration. The device can have a shaft. An outer expandable body can be included that is radially expandable from a first radially expanded state to a second radially expanded state in the deployed configuration. An inner body can be included, wherein the outer expandable body and the inner body are fixedly coupled to a distal region of the shaft, the outer expandable body radially surrounding at least a portion of the inner body in the second radially expanded state. A capture net can be coupled to a distal portion of the inner body and including a proximal mouth.

What is claimed is: 1 . A device for removing clot from a blood vessel, the device having a collapsed delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration and comprising: a shaft; an outer expandable body radially expandable from a first radially expanded state to a second radially expanded state in the deployed configuration; an inner body, wherein the outer expandable body and the inner body are fixedly coupled to a distal region of the shaft, the outer expandable body radially surrounding at least a portion of the inner body in the second radially expanded state, and a capture net coupled to a distal portion of the inner body and including a proximal mouth, wherein in the first radially expanded state, the proximal mouth of the capture net is spaced a first axial distance away from the outer expandable body, and wherein in the second radially expanded state, the proximal mouth of the capture net is spaced a second axial distance, different than the first axial distance, away from the outer expandable body. 2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the second axial distance is longer than the first axial distance. 3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the inner body is cylindrical and tubular. 4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein a length of the outer expandable body in the first radially expanded state is longer than the length of the outer expandable body in the second radially expanded state. 5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein a proximal most end of the inner body coextensive with a proximal most end of the outer expandable body. 6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the capture net is self-expandable. 7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the inner body is an expandable inner body, and wherein the outer expandable body at least partially overlies the inner expandable body to provide a clot reception space radially between the inner expandable body and the outer expandable body. 8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein a distal end of the inner body and a distal end of the outer expandable body are uncoupled from one another. 9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the outer expandable body includes a closed-cell strut structure having a first porosity, and the capture net has a second porosity less than the first porosity. 10 . A device for removing clot from a blood vessel, the device having a collapsed delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration and comprising: a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end; an inner body fixedly coupled to the shaft; and an outer expandable body radially expandable from a first radially expanded state to a second radially expanded state in the deployed configuration; and a capture net including a proximal mouth, wherein in the first radially expanded state, the proximal mouth of the capture net is spaced a first axial distance away from the outer expandable body, and wherein in the second radially expanded state, the proximal mouth of the capture net is spaced a second axial distance, different than the first axial distance, away from the outer expandable body; wherein a proximal end of the inner body is fixed relative to a proximal end of the outer expandable body. 11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the inner body is cylindrical and tubular. 12 . The device of claim 10 , further comprising a plurality of connecting arms extending from a distal most end of the inner body to a proximal end of the capture net. 13 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the outer expandable body includes a closed-cell strut structure having a first porosity, and the capture net has a second porosity less than the first porosity. 14 . A device for removing clot from a blood vessel, the device having a collapsed delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration and comprising: a shaft; an expandable body coupled to the shaft and radially expandable to the deployed configuration, and having an inner expandable body fixedly coupled to a distal region of the shaft, and an outer expandable body fixedly coupled to the distal region of the shaft and having an open distal end, and a capture net coupled to the inner expandable body and including a proximal mouth. 15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the capture net is coupled to a distal most end of the inner expandable body via a plurality of connecting arms and is located distal the outer expandable body in the deployed configuration. 16 . The device of claim 14 , wherein, as the shaft radially expands, a length of the outer expandable body shortens. 17 . The device of claim 14 , wherein a proximal most end of the inner expandable body is in communication with a proximal most end of the outer expandable body. 18 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the outer expandable body is expandable to a radial extent which is greater than the radial extent of the inner expandable body in the deployed configuration to provide a clot reception space radially between the inner expandable body and the outer expandable body. 19 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the outer expandable body includes a closed-cell strut structure having a first porosity, and the capture net has a second porosity less than the first porosity. 20 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the inner expandable body is devoid of structure therein.
