Official abstract text for this publication.
Techniques for signaling dynamic control region for PRACH transmission are described. In an aspect, the disclosure describes a method for receiving, at a user equipment (UE), an indication of a number of control symbols that the UE is to assume when transmitting physical random access channel (PRACH), and transmitting, by the UE, the PRACH over one or more slots based on the number of control symbols. In another aspect, the disclosure describes a method for generating, at a network device, an indication of a number of control symbols that a UE is to assume when transmitting PRACH, transmitting, by the network device, the indication to the UE. A UE and network device configuration as well as apparatuses and computer-readable medium related to these methods are also described.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method of wireless communications, comprising: receiving, at a user equipment (UE), an indication of symbols that the UE is to assume when transmitting physical random access channel (PRACH) within a subframe; and transmitting, by the UE, the PRACH over one or more slots based on the indication of the symbols. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of a PRACH format identifying portions of the one or more slots for PRACH to be transmitted over. 3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the PRACH format further identifies whether the symbols are to overlap or to not overlap a common burst portion of the one or more slots. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of the symbols includes an indication of a starting symbol for PRACH to be transmitted over the one or more slots. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of symbols to be skipped by PRACH when transmitted over the one or more slots. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the indication includes receiving a system information block (SIB) that indicates the symbols that the UE is to assume when transmitting PRACH within the subframe. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more slots include one of a time division duplexing (TDD) self-contained uplink-centric slot or a frequency division duplexing (FDD) uplink-centric slot. 8 . A method of wireless communications, comprising: generating, at a network device, an indication of symbols that a user equipment (UE) is to assume when transmitting physical random access channel (PRACH) within a subframe; and transmitting, by the network device, the indication to the UE. 9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of a PRACH format identifying portions of one or more slots for PRACH to be transmitted over. 10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the PRACH format further identifies whether the symbols are to overlap or to not overlap a common burst portion of the one or more slots. 11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the indication of the symbols includes an indication of a starting symbol for PRACH to be transmitted over one or more slots. 12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of symbols to be skipped by PRACH when transmitted over one or more slots. 13 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the indication is transmitted to the UE over a system information block (SIB). 14 . A user equipment (UE) for wireless communications, comprising: a memory; and one or more processors coupled with the memory and configured to: receive an indication of symbols that the UE is to assume when transmitting physical random access channel (PRACH) within a subframe; and transmit the PRACH over one or more slots based on the indication of the symbols. 15 . The UE of claim 14 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of a PRACH format identifying portions of the one or more slots for PRACH to be transmitted over. 16 . The UE of claim 15 , wherein the PRACH format further identifies whether the symbols are to overlap or to not overlap a common burst portion of the one or more slots. 17 . The UE of claim 14 , wherein the indication of the symbols includes an indication of a starting symbol for PRACH to be transmitted over the one or more slots. 18 . The UE of claim 14 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of symbols to be skipped by PRACH when transmitted over the one or more slots. 19 . The UE of claim 14 , wherein the indication is received in a system information block (SIB) that indicates the symbols that the UE is to assume when transmitting PRACH within the subframe. 20 . The UE of claim 14 , wherein the one or more slots include one of a time division duplexing (TDD) self-contained uplink-centric slot or a frequency division duplexing (FDD) uplink-centric slot. 21 . A network device for wireless communications, comprising: a memory; and one or more processors coupled with the memory and configured to: generate an indication of symbols that a user equipment (UE) is to assume when transmitting physical random access channel (PRACH) within a subframe; and transmit the indication to the UE. 22 . The network device of claim 21 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of a PRACH format identifying portions of one or more slots for PRACH to be transmitted over. 23 . The network device of claim 22 , wherein the PRACH format further identifies whether the symbols are to overlap or to not overlap a common burst portion of the one or more slots. 24 . The network device of claim 21 , wherein the indication of the symbols includes an indication of a starting symbol for PRACH to be transmitted over one or more slots. 25 . The network device of claim 21 , wherein the indication of symbols includes an indication of symbols to be skipped by PRACH when transmitted over one or more slots. 26 . The network device of claim 21 , wherein the indication is transmitted to the UE over a system information block (SIB).
