A valve delivery system and valve delivery method are disclosed. The valve delivery system includes an inner shaft extending along a longitudinal axis and an elongated tension member to continuously circumferentially coil around a prosthetic valve disposed on the inner shaft to form a sheath portion to releasably contain the prosthetic valve on the inner shaft in a compressed state, the elongated tension member extending from the sheath portion along the longitudinal axis of the inner shaft.

What is claimed is: 1 . A valve delivery system, comprising: an inner shaft extending along a longitudinal axis; and an elongated tension member configured to continuously circumferentially coil around a prosthetic valve disposed on the inner shaft to form a sheath portion to releasably contain the prosthetic valve on the inner shaft in a compressed state, the elongated tension member extending from the sheath portion along the longitudinal axis of the inner shaft. 2 . The valve delivery system of claim 1 , further comprising: an outer shaft disposed around the inner shaft proximal to the sheath portion, the outer sheath having an inner diameter less than an outer diameter of the prosthetic valve in the compressed state. 3 . The valve delivery system of claim 1 , further comprising: a collar rotatably disposed around the inner shaft between the prosthetic valve and the outer shaft. 4 . The valve delivery system of claim 3 , wherein the collar includes a slotted opening configured to provide passage for the elongated tension member from an exterior surface to an interior passageway of the outer shaft. 5 . The valve delivery system of claim 1 , further comprising: a tip rotatably coupled to a distal end of the inner shaft. 6 . The valve delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the elongated tension member is spiral wound from a first end to a second end of the prosthetic valve in the compressed state. 7 . The valve delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the inner shaft includes a longitudinal lumen configured to accommodate a guidewire extending through the longitudinal lumen. 8 . A valve delivery system comprising: an inner shaft; and an elongated tension member extendable along the inner shaft, the elongated tension member transitional between a first state and a second state, wherein in the first state a distal portion is continuously coiled successively around a prosthetic valve in a compressed state, wherein coils of the distal portion extend from a first end to an opposing second end of the prosthetic valve, wherein the prosthetic valve is releasably fixed in the compressed state along the inner shaft in the first state, wherein the distal portion is uncoiled from around the prosthetic valve and the prosthetic valve is expandable from the compressed state in the second state. 9 . The valve delivery system of claim 8 , further comprising: an outer shaft disposed around the inner shaft, a distal end of the outer shaft disposable proximal to the prosthetic valve, the outer shaft having an inner diameter less than an outer diameter of the prosthetic valve in the compressed state. 10 . The valve delivery system of claim 9 , further comprising: a collar rotatably disposed around the inner shaft, the collar movable along a longitudinal axis of the inner shaft between the prosthetic valve and the outer shaft. 11 . The valve delivery system of claim 10 , wherein the collar includes a slotted opening to channel the elongated tension member to an interior of the outer shaft. 12 . The valve delivery system of claim 8 , wherein the elongated tension member includes a second portion extending from the distal portion, the second portion extending between an outer surface of the inner shaft and an inner surface of the outer shaft in the first state. 13 . The valve delivery system of claim 8 , wherein the inner shaft includes a rotatable tip at the distal end. 14 . The valve delivery system of claim 13 , wherein the introducer tip includes an opening to channel the elongated tension member to an inner shaft lumen. 15 . A prosthetic valve delivery method, comprising: advancing a valve delivery assembly through a vascular pathway of a patient, the valve delivery assembly including: an inner shaft, and an elongated tension member including a distal portion continuously circumferentially coiled around a prosthetic valve to releasably fix the prosthetic valve to the inner shaft in a compressed state, wherein a proximal portion of the elongated tension member extends from the distal portion along the inner shaft; positioning the prosthetic valve at a target site along the vascular pathway; applying tension to the proximal portion of the elongated tension member from outside the vascular pathway of the patient; pulling the elongated tension member proximally to uncoil the distal portion of the elongated tension member from around the prosthetic valve; releasing the prosthetic valve from the distal portion of the elongated tension member; and expanding the prosthetic valve at the target site. 16 . The valve delivery method of claim 15 , further comprising: assembling a valve delivery assembly, including: assembling the prosthetic valve onto the inner shaft, wherein the prosthetic valve extends around the inner shaft, and coiling the distal portion of the elongated tension member around the prosthetic valve, wherein the prosthetic valve is releasably restrained in the compressed state along the inner shaft with the distal portion of the elongated tension member. 17 . The valve delivery method of claim 16 , wherein assembling the valve delivery system further comprises: assembling an outer shaft around the inner shaft, wherein a distal end of the outer shaft is proximal to the prosthetic valve along the inner shaft, and longitudinally extending the elongated tension member within the outer shaft. 18 . The valve delivery method of claim 17 , wherein assembling the valve delivery system further comprises: assembling a collar around the inner shaft, the collar longitudinally disposed between the prosthetic valve and the outer shaft. 19 . The valve delivery method of claim 15 , further comprising: inserting a first end of a guidewire into a first opening site of the patient; advancing the guidewire through the first opening site, along the surgical pathway, and through a second opening site of the patient, wherein the first end is positioned outside the patient adjacent the second opening site and a second end of the guidewire is positioned outside the patient adjacent the first opening site; and advancing the valve delivery assembly through the vascular pathway of the patient along the guidewire. 20 . The valve delivery method of claim 19 , further comprising: applying tension to the guidewire to reposition the valve delivery system along the vascular pathway prior to releasing the prosthetic valve.
