A method and an apparatus for controlling an interrupt in a portable terminal are provided. The method includes executing an application based on user's control, determining whether an event occurs during the application execution, displaying information representing the event occurrence on a screen while continuing the application execution, and determining whether to interrupt the application by the event based on user's control.

What is claimed is: 1 . A mobile communication terminal, comprising: a touch screen configured to display information and receive user inputs; and a controller configured to: detect reception of an incoming voice call during execution of a video application that displays a video on the touch screen, in response to detecting the reception of the incoming voice call, control the touch screen to display a notification associated with the incoming voice call and including at least one user control while displaying at least a portion of the video associated with continuous execution of the video application, the at least one user control for enabling user selection of at least one of connecting and rejecting the incoming voice call, detect a touch input on the at least one user control of the notification while playing the portion of the video associated with the continuous execution of the video application, and in response to detecting the touch input on the at least one user control of the notification, when the touch input is a first touch input, interrupt execution of the video application and the display of the at least a portion of the video and execute a voice call application, and when the touch input is a second touch input, reject the incoming voice call and continue execution of the video application and the display of the at least a portion of the video. 2 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein the first touch input is a right to left drag of the at least one user control of the notification. 3 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein the second touch input is a left to right drag of the at least one user control of the notification. 4 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to: in response to rejecting the call or ending a connection with the incoming voice call, execute the video application and continue playing the at least a portion of the video on the touch screen. 5 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein interrupting execution of the video application comprises pausing the at least a portion of the video. 6 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to: when the touch input is the second touch input, remove display of the notification from the touch screen. 7 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein the notification associated with the incoming voice call is only displayed in response to the detection of the reception of the incoming voice call when the video application is executing in a full screen mode. 8 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to: when no touch input on the user control of the notification is detected for a specified time, remove display of the notification from the touch screen. 9 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 1 , wherein the execution of the incoming voice call application causes a display on the touch screen of a first user control for accepting the incoming voice call and a second user control for rejecting the incoming voice call. 10 . A mobile communication terminal, comprising: a touch screen configured to display information and receive user inputs; and a controller configured to: detect reception of an incoming voice call during execution of a video application that displays a video on the touch screen, in response to detecting the reception of the incoming voice call, control the touch screen to display a notification associated with the incoming voice call and including at least one user control while displaying at least a portion of the video associated with continuous execution of the video application, the at least one user control for selectively connecting the incoming voice call, rejecting the incoming voice call, and responding to the incoming voice call with a message, detect a touch input on the at least one user control of the notification while playing the portion of the video associated with the continuous execution of the video application, in response to detecting the touch input on the at least one user control of the notification, when the touch input is a first touch input, interrupt execution of the video application and the display of the at least a portion of the video and execute a voice call application, when the touch input is a second touch input, reject the incoming voice call and continue execution of the video application and the display of the at least a portion of the video, and when the touch input is a third touch input, reject the incoming voice call with a message response and continue execution of the video application and the display of the at least a portion of the video. 11 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein the first touch input is a right to left drag of the at least one user control of the notification. 12 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein the second touch input is a left to right drag of the at least one user control of the notification. 13 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to: in response to rejecting the call or ending a connection with the incoming voice call, execute the video application and continue playing the at least a portion of the video on the touch screen. 14 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein interrupting execution of the video application comprises pausing the at least a portion of the video. 15 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to: when the touch input is the second touch input, remove display of the notification from the touch screen. 16 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein the notification associated with the incoming voice call is only displayed in response to the detection of the reception of the incoming voice call when the video application is executing in a full screen mode. 17 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to: when no touch input on the user control of the notification is detected for a specified time, remove display of the notification from the touch screen. 18 . The mobile communication terminal of claim 10 , wherein the execution of the incoming voice call application causes a display on the touch screen of a first user control for accepting the incoming voice call and a second user control for rejecting the incoming voice call. 19 . A mobile communication terminal, comprising: a touch screen configured to display information and receive user inputs; and a controller configured to: detect reception of an event comprising one of an incoming voice call and a received message during execution of a video application that displays a video on the touch screen, in response to detecting the reception of the event, control the touch screen to display a notification associated with the event and including at least one user control while displaying at least a portion of the video associated with continuous execution of the video application, the at least one user control for one of selectively connecting and rejecting the incoming voice call and selectively dismissing a notification for the message and executing a message application for displaying the received message, detect a touch input on the at least one user control of the notification while playin
