An image display device includes a light illuminator, a road-property detector, a road determiner, and an illumination controller. The light illuminator is configured to send out light frontward of a vehicle, to display an image on a road a pedestrian is going to cross. The road-property detector is configured to detect one or more road properties out of a plurality of road properties including a road shape, a road marking, and a road sign. The road determiner is configured to determine whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on the basis of the one or more road properties. The illumination controller is configured to control display operation of the light illuminator, to keep the pedestrian from crossing the road, on the condition that the road determiner determines that the road is impermissible to cross.

First claim

An image display device, comprising: a light illuminator configured to send out light frontward of a vehicle, to display an image on a road a pedestrian is going to cross; a road-property detector configured to detect one or more road properties out of a plurality of road properties including a road shape, a road marking, and a road sign; a road determiner configured to determine whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on a basis of the one or more road properties detected by the road-property detector; and an illumination controller configured to control display operation of the light illuminator, to keep the pedestrian from crossing the road, on a condition that the road determiner determines that the road is impermissible to cross. 2 . The image display device according to claim 1 , wherein the road determiner determines whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on a basis of road information indicating a road size acquired on the basis of the one or more road properties. 3 . The image display device according to claim 1 , wherein the road determiner determines whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on a basis of road information indicating a road regulation acquired on the basis of the one or more road properties. 4 . The image display device according to claim 2 , wherein the road determiner determines whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on a basis of road information indicating a road regulation acquired on the basis of the one or more road properties. 5 . The image display device according to claim 1 , wherein the road-property detector detects two or more road properties out of the plurality of the road properties, the road determiner determines whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on a basis of each of the two or more road properties detected by the road-property detector, and the illumination controller controls the display operation of the light illuminator, to keep the pedestrian from crossing the road, on a condition that the road determiner determines, on a basis of at least one road property out of the two or more road properties, that the road is impermissible to cross. 6 . The image display device according to claim 2 , wherein the road-property detector detects two or more road properties out of the plurality of the road properties, the road determiner determines whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on a basis of each of the two or more road properties detected by the road-property detector, and the illumination controller controls the display operation of the light illuminator, to keep the pedestrian from crossing the road, on a condition that the road determiner determines, on a basis of at least one road property out of the two or more road properties, that the road is impermissible to cross. 7 . The image display device according to claim 1 , wherein the illumination controller controls the light illuminator to display a no-crossing image on a condition that the road determiner determines that the road is impermissible to cross, the no-crossing image prohibiting the pedestrian from crossing the road. 8 . The image display device according to claim 2 , wherein the illumination controller controls the light illuminator to display a no-crossing image on a condition that the road determiner determines that the road is impermissible to cross, the no-crossing image prohibiting the pedestrian from crossing the road. 9 . The image display device according to claim 1 , wherein the illumination controller makes the light illuminator stop displaying the image on a condition that the road determiner determines that the road is impermissible to cross. 10 . The image display device according to claim 2 , wherein the illumination controller makes the light illuminator stop displaying the image on a condition that the road determiner determines that the road is impermissible to cross. 11 . The image display device according to claim 1 , wherein the light illuminator includes headlights. 12 . The image display device according to claim 2 , wherein the light illuminator includes headlights. 13 . An image display device, comprising: a light illuminator configured to send out light frontward of a vehicle, to display an image on a road a pedestrian is going to cross; a road-property detector configured to detect one or more road properties out of a plurality of road properties including a road shape, a road marking, and a road sign; and circuitry configured to control display operation of the light illuminator on a basis of a detection result of the road-property detector, determine whether or not the road is permissible for the pedestrian to cross, on a basis of the one or more road properties detected by the road-property detector, and control the display operation of the light illuminator, to keep the pedestrian from crossing the road, on a condition that it is determined that the road is impermissible to cross.
