A method for signaling video parameters associated a video asset included in a multimedia presentation, the method comprising: signaling a flag indicating whether picture rate information is present in a descriptor associated with the video asset; and signaling picture rate information for one or more layers of encoded video data corresponding to the video asset based on the flag, wherein picture rate information includes a code value indicating a picture rate value.

1 . 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a code value of 6 indicates a picture rate value of 60 Hertz and wherein a code value of 11 indicates a picture rate value of 120 Hertz. 3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein a code value of 255 indicates that a picture rate value is indicated using a syntax element indicating an average picture rate in units of pictures per 256 second. 4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising signaling a flag indicating whether temporal scalability information is present in the descriptor associated with the video asset and signaling a maximum number of temporal sub-layers corresponding to the video asset based on the flag indicating whether temporal scalability information is present. 5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising signaling a flag indicating whether information for temporal sub-layers in the video asset is present based on the flag indicating whether temporal scalability information is present. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the descriptor associated with the video asset is identified as a video descriptor using a descriptor tag value. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the video asset is transported using a unidirectional physical layer. 8 . A device for rendering a video asset included in a multimedia presentation, the device comprising one or more processors configured to: receive a descriptor associated with a video asset; parse a flag indicating whether picture rate information for the video asset is present in the descriptor; parse picture rate information corresponding to the video asset based on the flag indicating picture rate information is present in the descriptor; and determine a picture rate corresponding to the video asset based on a code value indicating a picture rate value. 9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein determining a picture rate corresponding to the video asset based on a code value indicating a picture rate value includes determining a picture rate value of 60 Hertz for a code value of 6 and determining a picture rate value of 120 Hertz for code value of 11. 10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein determining a picture rate corresponding to the video asset based on a code value indicating a picture rate value includes determining a picture rate value of 50 Hertz for a code value of 8. 11 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to parse a flag indicating whether temporal scalability information is present in the descriptor; parse a syntax element indicating a maximum number of temporal sub-layers corresponding to the video asset based on the flag indicating whether temporal scalability information is present. 12 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to parse a flag indicating whether color information is present in the descriptor; and parse a flag indicating whether bit rate information is present in the descriptor. 13 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to parse a flag indicating whether scalability information is present in the descriptor. 14 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to receive the video asset using a unidirectional physical layer. 15 . A method for determining one or parameters of a video asset included in a multimedia presentation, the method comprising: receiving a descriptor associated with a video asset; parse one or more flags indicating whether a type of information for the video asset is present in the descriptor, wherein the one or more flags include a temporal scalability information present flag, a scalability information present flag, a multi-view information present flag, a picture quality present flag, picture rate information present flag, a bit rate information flag and a color information present flag; and determining one or more parameters of the video asset by parsing one or more syntax elements corresponding to a respective flag. 16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein determining one or more parameters of the video asset by parsing one or more syntax elements corresponding to a respective flag includes determining a picture rate. 17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein determining one or more parameters of the video asset by parsing one or more syntax elements corresponding to a respective flag includes determining a bit rate. 18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein determining one or more parameters of the video asset by parsing one or more syntax elements corresponding to a respective flag includes determining an order of a view. 19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein determining one or more parameters of the video asset by parsing one or more syntax elements corresponding to a respective flag includes determining a picture width. 20 . The method of claim 15 , wherein determining one or more parameters of the video asset by parsing one or more syntax elements corresponding to a respective flag includes determining colour primaries.
