Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An ignition device for an internal combustion engine with an ignition plug that ignites an air-fuel mixture in a combustion chamber, wherein a discharge current i provided by the ignition plug to the air-fuel mixture is controlled to be greater than a discharge current reference value ibf, which is a minimum current value at which a spark discharge blow-out phenomenon does not arise.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

1 . An ignition device for an internal combustion engine equipped with an ignition plug that ignites an air-fuel mixture in a combustion chamber, wherein a discharge current i provided by the ignition plug to the air-fuel mixture is controlled to be greater than a discharge current reference value ibf, which is a minimum current value at which a spark discharge blow-out phenomenon does not arise. 2 . The ignition device for an internal combustion engine according to claim 1 , wherein the discharge current reference value i bf is set according to the following mathematical formula. i bf =kU n1 l spk n2   (1) 3 . The ignition device for an internal combustion engine according to claim 2 , wherein the constant k is adjustable within a range of 0.0017±10%, the constant n 1 is adjustable within a range of 0.71±10%, and the constant n 2 is adjustable within a range of 0.33±10% in mathematical formula (1).
