Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods for determining mastery in a Bayesian network are disclosed herein. The system can include memory including a content library database containing content for delivery to a user. The system can include at least one processor that can receive an assertion from a user device and identify one or several nodes relevant to the received assertion. The at least one processor can further evaluate the assertion and calculate a node mastery probability for the identified one or several relevant nodes. The at least one processor can calculate mastery of related nodes and determine mastery of an objective based on the mastery of the relevant nodes and the related nodes. The at least one processor can generate a mastery bar and update the mastery bar with the determined mastery of the objective.

What is claimed is: 1 . A user interface control system, the system comprising: memory comprising: a content library database comprising content for delivery to a user; and at least one processor configured to: launch a user interface comprising a content portion and a conversation portion, wherein the conversation portion includes a launch button; receive a signal from a manipulation of the launch button directing the launch of a conversation interface; display a prompt to the user; receive an input from the user, the input comprising an assertion; determine a mastery level of an objective based on the received assertion; generate a mastery bar in the user interface, wherein the mastery bar provides a visual indicator of progress through content and a visual indicator of mastery of the objective; and update the mastery bar based on the determined level of mastery. 2 . The user interface control system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to deliver content to a user, wherein the content comprises at least one of: text; film; audio; or images. 3 . The user interface control system of claim 2 , wherein providing content comprises: identifying content for providing to the user; retrieving the identified content; and delivering the retrieved content. 4 . The user interface control system of claim 3 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to generate and send a communication to an artificial intelligence agent subsequent to receipt of the signal from the manipulation of the launch button. 5 . The user interface control system of claim 4 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to receive a prompt from the artificial intelligence agent, and wherein the prompt is displayed to the user in the conversation portion of the user interface. 6 . The user interface control system of claim 5 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to: determine completion of the conversation; and provide additional prompts when the conversation is incomplete. 7 . The user interface control system of claim 6 , wherein determining completion of the conversation comprises determining mastery based on one or several received assertions. 8 . The user interface control system of claim 7 , wherein updating the mastery bar comprises: determining a present state of the mastery bar; determining a change in the mastery level; and controlling pixels in a display to reflect the change in mastery level. 9 . The user interface control system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to extract the assertion from the received input and evaluate the assertion. 10 . The user interface control system of claim 9 , wherein evaluating the assertion comprises semantic processing of the assertion to identify attributes of the assertion and comparing the identified attributes of the assertion to evaluation criteria. 11 . A method of controlling a user interface, the method comprising: launching a user interface comprising a content portion and a conversation portion, wherein the conversation portion includes a launch button; receiving a signal from a manipulation of the launch button directing the launch of a conversation interface; displaying a prompt to the user; receiving an input from the user, the input comprising an assertion; determining a mastery level of an objective based on the received assertion; generating a mastery bar in the user interface, wherein the mastery bar provides a visual indicator of progress through content and a visual indicator of mastery of the objective; and updating the mastery bar based on the determined level of mastery. 12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising delivering content to a user, wherein the content comprises at least one of: text; film; audio; or images. 13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing content comprises: identifying content for providing to the user; retrieving the identified content; and delivering the retrieved content. 14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising generating and sending a communication to an artificial intelligence agent subsequent to receipt of the signal from the manipulation of the launch button. 15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising receiving a prompt from the artificial intelligence agent, wherein the prompt is displayed to the user in the conversation portion of the user interface. 16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising: determining completion of the conversation; and providing additional prompts when the conversation is incomplete. 17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein determining completion of the conversation comprises determining mastery based on one or several received assertions. 18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein updating the mastery bar comprises: determining a present state of the mastery bar; determining a change in the mastery level; and controlling pixels in a display to reflect the change in mastery level. 19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising extracting the assertion from the received input and evaluating the assertion. 20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein evaluating the assertion comprises semantic processing of the assertion to identify attributes of the assertion and comparing the identified attributes of the assertion to evaluation criteria.
