Systems and methods for presenting contextual clips for distributed content are disclosed. Some embodiments include receiving an input for presenting content while the content is currently being distributed at a first distribution time point within the content, transmitting a request for contextual content prior to the first distribution time point, receiving information for displaying a plurality of contextual content clips distributed prior to the first distribution time point, wherein each of the plurality of contextual content clips corresponds to an event depicted in the content, displaying the plurality of contextual content clips using the received information, and displaying the content at a second distribution time point after all of the plurality of contextual content clips have been displayed.

What is claimed is: 1 . A terminal for presenting contextual clips for distributed content, the terminal comprising: a network communication unit configured to transmit and receive data; and one or more controllers configured to: receive an input for presenting content while the content is currently being distributed at a first distribution time point within the content; transmit a request, via the network communication unit, for contextual content prior to the first distribution time point; receive information for displaying a plurality of contextual content clips distributed prior to the first distribution time point, wherein each of the plurality of contextual content clips corresponds to an event depicted in the content; display, via a display associated with the terminal, the plurality of contextual content clips using the received information; and display, via the display, the content at a second distribution time point within the content after all of the plurality of contextual content clips have been displayed. 2 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the first distribution time point and the second distribution time point are the same. 3 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the second distribution time point is a live current distribution time point. 4 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to: receive information for displaying additional contextual content clips corresponding to events of the content which were distributed while the plurality of contextual content clips were being displayed; and display the additional contextual content clips after the plurality of contextual content clips are displayed but before the content at the second distribution time point is displayed. 5 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the content corresponds to a live sporting event and the plurality of contextual content clips correspond to highlights of the live sporting event that took place prior to the first distribution time point. 6 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to: display, via the display, one or more selectable options for inputting criteria of contextual content clips to be displayed; and receive at least one input to the displayed one or more selectable options for selecting at least one contextual content clip criteria, wherein the transmitted request includes information of the selected at least one contextual content clip criteria. 7 . The terminal of claim 6 , wherein the one or more selectable options comprises an option for setting a total length of time for displaying the plurality of contextual content clips. 8 . The terminal of claim 7 , wherein the plurality of contextual content clips are selected for display based on the set total length of time for displaying the plurality of contextual content clips. 9 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of contextual content clips are selected for display based on metadata associated with each contextual content clip. 10 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to: transmit a request, via the network communication unit, for secondary content to be displayed along with the content; receive information for displaying a plurality of secondary content items; and withhold a particular secondary content item during display of the plurality of contextual content clips based on a timestamp of the particular secondary content item. 11 . The terminal of claim 10 , wherein the particular secondary content item is withheld from being displayed if the timestamp of the particular secondary content item is after a timestamp of a current playback position of the displayed plurality of contextual content clips. 12 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are configured to only display, via the display, the content at the second distribution time point in response to the input for presenting content without displaying the plurality of contextual content clips if the first distribution time point is prior to a threshold time point within the content. 13 . The terminal of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are configured to only display, via the display, the content at the second distribution time point in response to the input for presenting content without displaying the plurality of contextual content clips if the first distribution time point is after a threshold time point within the content or if a total length of the plurality of contextual content clips is greater than a predicted time remaining of the content currently being distributed. 14 . A method for presenting contextual clips for distributed content, the method comprising: receiving an input for presenting content while the content is currently being distributed at a first distribution time point within the content; transmitting a request for contextual content prior to the first distribution time point; receiving information for displaying a plurality of contextual content clips distributed prior to the first distribution time point, wherein each of the plurality of contextual content clips corresponds to an event depicted in the content; displaying the plurality of contextual content clips using the received information; and displaying the content at a second distribution time point within the content after all of the plurality of contextual content clips have been displayed. 15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the first distribution time point and the second distribution time point are the same. 16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the second distribution time point is a live current distribution time point. 17 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising: receiving information for displaying additional contextual content clips corresponding to events of the content which were distributed while the plurality of contextual content clips were being displayed; and displaying the additional contextual content clips after the plurality of contextual content clips are displayed but before the content at the second distribution time point is displayed. 18 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the content corresponds to a live sporting event and the plurality of contextual content clips correspond to highlights of the live sporting event that took place prior to the first distribution time point. 19 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising: displaying one or more selectable options for inputting criteria of contextual content clips to be displayed; and receiving at least one input to the displayed one or more selectable options for selecting at least one contextual content clip criteria, wherein the transmitted request includes information of the selected at least one contextual content clip criteria. 20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the one or more selectable options comprises an option for setting a total length of time for displaying the plurality of contextual content clips. 21 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the plurality of contextual content clips are selected for display based on the set total length of time for displaying the plurality of contextual content clips. 22 . The method of claim 14 , wherein each of the plurality of contextual content clips are selected for display based on metadata associated with each contextual content clip. 23 . The method of claim 14 ,
