Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a UE. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a configuration, wherein the configuration indicates whether the UE performs a beam management during a specific period of time. The method also includes determining whether to perform the beam management during the specific period of time based on at least the configuration.

First claim

1 . A method of a UE (User Equipment), comprising: receiving a configuration, wherein the configuration indicates whether the UE performs a beam management during a specific period of time; and determining whether to perform the beam management during the specific period of time based on at least the configuration. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the specific period of time is DRX (Discontinuous Reception) inactive time. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the beam management includes a beam feedback procedure. 4 . A method of a UE (User Equipment), comprising: maintaining at least one serving beam in a serving cell; determining whether the at least one serving beam is valid when uplink data is available for transmission; and selecting a specific beam of the serving cell and transmitting a request for uplink resource via the specific beam if the at least one serving beam is not valid. 5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the UE selects the specific beam based on beam reference signal measurement. 6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the specific beam is a best beam measured by the UE. 7 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the request is a scheduling request. 8 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the request is a random access preamble. 9 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the UE performs measurement on the least one serving beam to determine whether the at least one serving beam is valid or not. 10 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the at least one serving beam is not valid during DRX (Discontinuous Reception) inactive time if a beam feedback procedure is not continued during the DRX inactive time. 11 . The method of claim 4 , wherein a timer is used to determine whether the at least one serving beam is valid or not. 12 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the UE transmits the request via the at least one serving beam if the at least one serving beam is valid. 13 . A method of a UE (User Equipment), comprising: maintaining at least one serving beam in a serving cell; determining whether the at least one serving beam is valid when the UE needs to monitor a downlink control channel; and selecting a specific beam of the serving cell and monitoring the downlink control channel to receive a request for transmitting a random access preamble via the specific beam if the at least one serving beam is not valid. 14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein uplink of the UE is not synchronized. 15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the UE selects the specific beam based on beam reference signal measurement. 16 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the specific beam is a best beam measured by the UE. 17 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the UE performs measurement on the least one serving beam to determine whether the at least one serving beam is valid or not. 18 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the at least one serving beam is not valid if a beam feedback procedure is not continued when uplink of the UE is not synchronized. 19 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the UE transmits the random access preamble in response to the request. 20 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the UE monitors the downlink control channel during DRX (Discontinuous Reception) active time.
