Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An image processing apparatus including a transmission function for transmitting an image sets whether to permit use of a destination not previously registered. The image processing apparatus also receives, from an external apparatus, data including at least a destination field. The image processing apparatus sets the transmission destination based on destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set permitting use of a previously un-registered destination and does not set the transmission destination based on the destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set prohibiting use of a previously un-registered destination.

What is claimed is: 1 . An image processing apparatus including a transmission function for transmitting an image, the image processing apparatus comprising: at least one processor; and at least one computer-readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising: transmitting an image to a set transmission destination; setting whether to permit use of a previously un-registered destination as a transmission destination to which the image is transmitted; receiving data including at least a destination field from an external apparatus; and controlling the image processing apparatus to set the transmission destination based on destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set permitting use of a previously un-registered destination and not to set the transmission destination based on the destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set prohibiting use of a previously un-registered destination. 2 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor performing operations further comprising receiving, from an external apparatus, data including at least a destination field and a data field set to be transferred, and wherein, upon the condition that the setting not permitting the use of a previously un-registered destination is set, the image processing apparatus does not set the transmission destination based on the destination information included in the destination field and sets setting information included in the data field set to be transferred included in the received data as a transmission setting of the transmission function based on the setting information. 3 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor performing operations further comprising: accepting an instruction for changing the setting set; and providing a notification that a transmission destination setting associated with the external apparatus cannot be made upon a condition that an instruction for changing a setting to a setting not permitting the use of a previously un-registered destination as a transmission destination is accepted. 4 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor performing operations further comprising displaying a plurality of previously un-registered destinations and setting a destination selected from among the plurality of displayed destinations as a transmission destination to transmit an image, and wherein, upon a condition that the destination information included in the destination field is determined to match any one of a plurality of previously registered destinations, the image processing apparatus sets a transmission destination based on the destination information included in the destination field even upon a condition that the setting not permitting the use of a previously un-registered destination is set. 5 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 further comprising a scanner device configured to scan an original document, wherein the at least one processor performs an operation to transmit an image acquired by scanning the original document to the transmission destination. 6 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein data transmitted from the external apparatus includes at least any one of settings of destination information, a subject used for transmission, a main message, or a file name of an attachment file. 7 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein receipt of the data from the external apparatus is via wireless communication. 8 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein, upon the image processing apparatus not setting the transmission destination based on the data received from the external apparatus, a predetermined notification is transmitted to the external apparatus. 9 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the predetermined notification is a notification indicating that a transmission destination cannot be set. 10 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor performs an operation further comprising prompting a user to input characters and accepting manual input of a transmission destination, and wherein, upon the condition that the setting prohibiting a previously un-registered destination is set, the manual input of the transmission destination is not accepted. 11 . A control method of an image processing apparatus including a transmission function for transmitting an image, the control method being executed by a processor, and the control method comprising: transmitting an image to a set transmission destination; setting whether to permit use of a previously un-registered destination as a transmission destination to which the image is transmitted; receiving data including at least a destination field from an external apparatus; and controlling the image processing apparatus to set the transmission destination based on destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set permitting use of a previously un-registered destination and not to set the transmission destination based on the destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set prohibiting use of a previously un-registered destination. 12 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer-executable instructions for causing a computer to execute a control method of an image processing apparatus including a transmission function for transmitting an image, the control method comprising: transmitting an image to a set transmission destination; setting whether to permit use of a previously un-registered destination as a transmission destination to which the image is transmitted; receiving data including at least a destination field from an external apparatus; and controlling the image processing apparatus to set the transmission destination based on destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set permitting use of a previously un-registered destination and not to set the transmission destination based on the destination information included in the destination field of the received data upon a condition that a setting is set prohibiting use of a previously un-registered destination.
