What is claimed is: 1 . A composition for the removal of waste from a wastewater or a waste stream comprising: a composite comprising graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles at a ratio of 10:1 to 1:10 weight to weight. 2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is a nanocomposite. 3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composite settles in aqueous solutions. 4 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composite removes organic molecules from water. 5 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composite is formed by sonication of a solution of water comprising graphene oxide and magnesium oxide. 6 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composite is impregnated in or on a substrate. 7 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composite is graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles and has a ratio of 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3 weight to weight. 8 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composite is graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles and has a ratio of 4:1, 1:1, and 1:4 weight to weight. 9 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composite is graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles and has a ratio of 5:1 to 1:5. 10 . A method of removing organic molecules from wastewater or a waste stream in need of removal; and contacting the wastewater or waste stream with a composite of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles for an amount of time sufficient for the organic molecules to attach to the nanoparticles; and separating the nanoparticles from the water. 11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the water is contacted with the wastewater or waste stream in a batch process for 1 to 60 minutes. 12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the water is contacted with the wastewater or waste stream in a batch process for 1 to 20 minutes. 13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein at least 90% of the organic molecules are removed in less than 20 minutes. 14 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising the step of removing the organic molecules from the composite, and recycling the composite. 15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the composite is formed by sonication of a solution of water comprising the graphene oxide and magnesium oxide. 16 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the composite is impregnated in or on a substrate. 17 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the composite is graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles and has a ratio of 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3 weight to weight. 18 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the composite is graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles and has a ratio of 4:1, 1:1, and 1:4 weight to weight. 19 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the composite is graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles and has a ratio of 5:1 to 1:5. 20 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the pH of the wastewater or waste stream is between 6 and 8. 21 . A method of making a composite of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles comprising: resuspending a graphene oxide in water; mixing the graphene oxide in water with magnesium oxide nanoparticles; sonicating the mixture of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles; and removing the water from the mixture of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles to form a composite of graphene oxide and magnesium oxide.
