A method and system are for generating a report for delivery to or access or query by a network operator by determining, by a server-side proxy, optimization efficiency for traffic in a wireless network, tracking, by the server-side proxy, user-related information in the wireless network, generating, based on at least one of the optimization efficiency and the user-related information, a report for delivery to or access by an operator of the wireless network, the report including an alert of viral take-up of a new application, and performing, by the server-side proxy, traffic optimization functions alleviating traffic in the wireless network.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method of generating a report for delivery to or access by a network operator, the method comprising: determining, by a server-side proxy, optimization efficiency for traffic in a wireless network; tracking, by the server-side proxy, user-related information in the wireless network; generating, based on at least one of the optimization efficiency and the user-related information, a report for delivery to or access by an operator of the wireless network, the report including an alert of viral take-up of a new application; and performing, by the server-side proxy, traffic optimization functions alleviating traffic in the wireless network. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the optimization efficiency is determined from at least one of: data traffic; signaling traffic; time connected for connections; and battery consumption on mobile devices in the wireless network. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the optimization efficiency includes information specific to different mobile applications on the mobile device. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the report depicts the optimization efficiency for data by including a comparison of data traffic and saved data traffic as a result of the traffic optimization functions. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the report depicts the optimization efficiency for signaling by including a comparison of actual connections and saved connections as a result of the traffic optimization functions. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the report depicts the optimization efficiency for connection time by including a comparison of actual connection time and saved connection time as a result of the traffic optimization functions. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user-related information includes: total users and new users; and total users by application, by bearer, by host, by operation, or by device type. 8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating statistical data from the optimization efficiency for the wireless network. 9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, generating statistical data from the optimization efficiency across multiple wireless networks serviced by multiple network operators. 10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating at least one of trending reports and ranking reports from at least one of the optimization efficiency and the user related information. 11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, the wireless network traffic includes at least one of mobile network traffic and Wifi network traffic. 12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, the optimization efficiency is determined at least in part from information provided by a client-side proxy on a mobile device in the wireless network. 13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein, the client-side proxy and the server-side proxy are components of a distributed proxy and/or caching system which performs traffic optimization and management in the wireless network. 14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, the report is customized for the network operator and individually customizable for different network operators. 15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the report comprises custom analyses including at least one of: analysis, comparison, and trending across single or multiple dimensions. 16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the report comprises custom analyses including at least one of: time-of-the-day and day-of-the-week analysis with trending over time. 17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the report comprises predictive analyses including, at least one of an increase in usage prediction and a usage profile churn prediction. 18 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the report comprises an alert of at least one of crossing trend lines and changing trends in take-up of the new application. 19 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the report comprises analysis of at least one: of data feed to CRM; network operations; and policy management in real-time or on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis. 20 . A system for generating a report for delivery to or access by a network operator, the system comprising a server-side proxy that: determines optimization efficiency for traffic in a wireless network; tracks user-related information in the wireless network; generates, based on at least one of the optimization efficiency and the user-related information, a report for delivery to or access by an operator of the wireless network, the report including an alert of viral take-up of a new application; and performs traffic optimization functions alleviating traffic in the wireless network.
