In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a content posting from a device associated with a first user, the content posting including data representative of a content instance and a geographic location associated with the content instance; determining that a second user is associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, wherein the determination is based on a first client device associated with the second user being or having been within a predefined proximity of the geographic location associated with the content instance; and authorizing, based on the second user being associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, a second client device associated with the second user to submit an annotation to the content instance.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method comprising, by a computing system: receiving a content posting from a device associated with a first user, the content posting including data representative of a content instance and a geographic location associated with the content instance; determining that a second user is associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, wherein the determination is based on a first client device associated with the second user being or having been within a predefined proximity of the geographic location associated with the content instance; and authorizing, based on the second user being associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, a second client device associated with the second user to submit an annotation to the content instance. 2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising granting access to the content instance to the second user. 3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising distributing the content instance to the second client device. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to edit the content instance. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to rate the content instance. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to post a comment associated with the content instance. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to add a note to the content instance. 8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to categorize the content instance. 9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to label the content instance. 10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to report the content instance. 11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second client device to submit the annotation comprises authorizing the second client device to block the content instance 12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first client device is distinct from the second client device. 13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the geographic location is a location of the device associated with the first user when the content posting is received. 14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the geographic location is a location that is determined based on geo-tag data associated with the content instance. 15 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending a notification to a device associated with the first user, the notification indicating an occurrence of an annotation of the content instance. 16 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending a notification to a device associated with a third user, the notification indicating an occurrence of a particular annotation of the content instance. 17 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising selectively distributing the particular annotation to one or more users in association with the content instance. 18 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second users are members of a group, and wherein the first and second users being members of the group is requisite to the authorizing of the second client device to submit the annotation to the content instance. 19 . One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying software that is operable when executed to: receive a content posting from a device associated with a first user, the content posting including data representative of a content instance and a geographic location associated with the content instance; determine that a second user is associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, wherein the determination is based on a first client device associated with the second user being or having been within a predefined proximity of the geographic location associated with the content instance; and authorize, based on the second user being associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, a second client device associated with the second user to submit an annotation to the content instance. 20 . A system comprising: one or more processors; and a non-transitory memory coupled to the processors comprising instructions executable by the processors, the processors operable when executing the instructions to: receive a content posting from a device associated with a first user, the content posting including data representative of a content instance and a geographic location associated with the content instance; determine that a second user is associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, wherein the determination is based on a first client device associated with the second user being or having been within a predefined proximity of the geographic location associated with the content instance; and authorize, based on the second user being associated with the geographic location associated with the content instance, a second client device associated with the second user to submit an annotation to the content instance.
