According to one embodiment, an apparatus ( 50 ) for mounting to an inner wall ( 33 ) of an exhaust tube ( 32 ) includes a tube engagement surface ( 52 ) and an exhaust engagement surface ( 54 A). The tube engagement surface comprises a convex surface of a constant first radius of curvature about a first axis. The exhaust engagement surface is adjacent the tube engagement surface, and includes a concave surface of a second radius of curvature about a second axis generally perpendicular to the first axis.

1 . An apparatus for mounting to an inner wall of an exhaust tube, comprising: a tube engagement surface comprising a convex surface of a constant first radius of curvature about a first axis; and an exhaust engagement surface adjacent the tube engagement surface, the exhaust engagement surface comprising a concave surface of a second radius of curvature about a second axis generally perpendicular to the first axis. 2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a rounded tip surface extending linearly from a first end of the tube engagement surface to a second end of the tube engagement surface, the exhaust engagement surface extending between the tube engagement surface and the rounded tip surface. 3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus has a substantially T-shaped cross-section. 4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first radius of curvature matches a radius of the exhaust tube. 5 . The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein an overall height of the apparatus is between about 10% and 50% of the radius of the exhaust tube. 6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a ledge surface between the tube engagement surface and the exhaust engagement surface, the ledge surface being substantially planar and extending substantially transversely relative to the tube engagement surface, and wherein the ledge surface has a length that is less than an overall length of the apparatus. 7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a ratio of the second radius of curvature to an overall height of the apparatus is between about 0.7 and 1.0. 8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the convex surface of the tube engagement surface extends from a first end of the apparatus to a second end of the apparatus, and wherein the exhaust engagement surface terminates at a straight edge of the apparatus that extends from the first end of the apparatus to the second end of the apparatus. 9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the exhaust engagement surface is a first exhaust engagement surface, the apparatus further comprising a second exhaust engagement surface adjacent the tube engagement surface and facing a direction generally opposite the first exhaust engagement surface, the second exhaust engagement surface comprising a second concave surface of the second radius of curvature. 10 - 25 .
