1 . (canceled) 2 . A computer-implemented method comprising: generating, in response to a request for a digital content item and with a computer system comprising at least one computer on a network, additional content that is based on a source other than a source of the digital content item, the additional content being generated using data about a resource, data received from a source other than a source of the resource, and data received from the source other than the source of the digital content item; encapsulating the additional content within the digital content item; and serving, with the computer system, the digital content item that encapsulates the additional content, to induce display of the digital content item that encapsulates the additional content, in the resource, on a user device. 3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the data, received from the source other than the resource, comprises search results. 4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 3 , further comprising receiving the search results by: generating a search query from the data received about the resource; sending the search query generated to a search engine; and receiving the search results. 5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the data, received from the source other than the resource, comprises a reference to another resource. 6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the additional content comprises data about a product or a service that is represented in the digital content item or a reference to a resource comprising content related to the product or the service. 7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the resource comprises a web page. 8 . A system, comprising: a content assembler engine configured to generate, in response to a request for a digital content item over a network, additional content that is based on a source other than a source of the digital content item, the additional content being generated using data about a resource, data received from a source other than a source of the resource, and data received from the source other than the source of the digital content item; a rendering engine configured to encapsulate the additional content within the digital content item; and a content server configured to serve the digital content item that encapsulates the additional content, to induce display of the digital content item that encapsulates the additional content, in the resource, on a user device. 9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the data, received from the source other than the resource, comprises search results. 10 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising a search engine configured to: receive a search query from the data received about the resource; retrieve the search results; and send the search results to the content assembler engine. 11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the data, received from the source other than the resource, comprises a reference to another resource. 12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the additional content comprises data about a product or a service that is represented in the digital content item or a reference to a resource comprising content related to the product or the service. 13 . The system claim 8 , wherein the resource comprises a web page. 14 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that are executable by one or more processors configured to perform operations comprising: generating, in response to a request for a digital content item and with a computer system comprising at least one computer on a network, additional content that is based on a source other than a source of the digital content item, the additional content being generated using data about a resource, data received from a source other than a source of the resource, and data received from the source other than the source of the digital content item; encapsulating the additional content within the digital content item; and serving, with the computer system, the digital content item that encapsulates the additional content, to induce display of the digital content item that encapsulates the additional content, in the resource, on a user device. 15 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the data, received from the source other than the resource, comprises search results. 16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving the search results by: generating a search query from the data received about the resource; sending the search query generated to a search engine; and receiving the search results. 17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the data, received from the source other than the resource, comprises a reference to another resource. 18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the additional content comprises data about a product or a service that is represented in the digital content item or a reference to a resource comprising content related to the product or the service. 19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the resource comprises a web page.
