Opening claim text (preview).
What is claimed is: 1 . A curvic seal for a gas turbine engine comprising: a cylindrical seal with an axial retention feature. 2 . The curvic seal as recited in claim 1 , wherein said axial retention feature is U-shaped. 3 . The curvic seal as recited in claim 1 , wherein said cylindrical seal is a split-ring sheet metal seal. 4 . The curvic seal as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a rolled flange on an aft edge section of said cylindrical seal. 5 . A curvic joint assembly for a gas turbine engine comprising: a curvic coupling between a first component and a second component along an axis; and a curvic seal within an interior of said first component and said second component with respect to said axis to seal said curvic coupling, said curvic seal includes an axial retention feature that interfaces with said first component. 6 . The curvic joint as recited in claim 5 , wherein said axial retention feature is U-shaped. 7 . The curvic joint as recited in claim 5 , wherein said axial retention feature interfaces with an inner rim that extends from an inner surface of said first component. 8 . The curvic joint as recited in claim 5 , wherein said first component and said second component are cylindrical. 9 . The curvic joint as recited in claim 8 , wherein said curvic seal is a split-ring sheet metal seal. 10 . The curvic joint as recited in claim 5 , further comprising a rolled flange on an aft edge section of said curvic seal.
