In certain aspects, the present invention provides compositions and methods for promoting bone growth and increasing bone density, as well as for the treatment of multiple myeloma.

A method for treating or preventing multiple myeloma in a human patient, the method comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of an anti-activin antibody or fragment thereof. 67 . The method of claim 66 , wherein the antibody or fragment thereof is a chimeric antibody. 68 . The method of claim 66 , wherein the antibody or fragment thereof is a humanized antibody. 69 . The method of claim 66 , wherein the antibody or fragment thereof is a human antibody. 70 . The method of claim 66 , wherein the antibody or fragment thereof is a monoclonal antibody. 71 .
