Disclosed is an oil pump device for supplying oil from an oil pan located below a casing of an internal combustion engine or transmission of a vehicle. The oil pump device includes a pump unit placed in the casing and having a pump rotation shaft arranged in parallel to a rotation axis of the internal combustion engine, an electric motor having a motor body mounted to an outer lateral side surface of the casing, a mechanical drive shaft rotatable by an output of the internal combustion engine, a mechanical drive connection mechanism connecting the mechanical drive shaft to one end of the pump rotation shaft, and a reduction gear mechanism placed in the casing and connecting the other end of the pump rotation shaft to a motor rotation shaft of the electric motor.

What is claimed is: 1 . An oil pump device for discharging oil from an oil pan that is attached to a lower side of a casing of an internal combustion engine or transmission in a vehicle, the oil pump device comprising: a pump unit placed in the casing and having a pump rotation shaft arranged in parallel to an axis of rotation of the internal combustion engine; an electric motor having a motor body mounted to an outer lateral side surface of the casing; a mechanical drive shaft rotatable by an output of the internal combustion engine; a mechanical drive connection mechanism connecting the mechanical drive shaft to one end of the pump rotation shaft such that the output of the internal combustion engine is transmitted from the mechanical drive shaft to the pump rotation shaft through the mechanical drive connection mechanism; and a reduction gear mechanism placed in the casing and connecting the other end of the pump rotation shaft to a motor rotation shaft of the electric motor such that rotation of the electric motor is reduced by the reduction gear mechanism and transmitted to the pump rotation shaft. 2 . The oil pump device according to claim 1 , wherein the motor rotation shaft and the pump rotation shaft are arranged in different directions from each other by 90°; and wherein the reduction gear mechanism includes a pair of bevel gears or hypoid gears. 3 . The oil pump device according to claim 1 , wherein the motor rotation shaft and the pump rotation shaft are arranged in parallel to each other; and wherein the reduction gear mechanism includes a pair of spur gears. 4 . The oil pump device according to claim 1 , wherein the motor rotation shaft passes through a wall of the casing and extends into the inside of the casing. 5 . The oil pump device according to claim 1 , wherein the mechanical drive connection mechanism includes a one-way clutch.
