Abstract

Systems, computer program products, and methods are described herein for discovery of software operable on a computing device. Embodiments access a computing device to determine at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device; determine, based on the determined at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device, at least one new tool or application to download or install on the computing device; and present the at least one new tool or application to a user of the computing device.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1 . A system for discovery of software operable on a computing device, the system comprising:
a memory device; and a processing device operatively coupled to the memory device, wherein the processing device is configured to execute computer-readable program code to:
access a computing device to determine at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device;
determine, based on the determined at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device, at least one new tool or application to download or install on the computing device; and
present the at least one new tool or application to a user of the computing device.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein accessing comprises:
requesting authorization from the user to access the user computer system in order to determine the applications that the user has on the user computer system; and receiving authorization from the user to access the user computer system to determine the applications that the user has on the user computer system.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing device is further configured to execute computer-readable program code to:
authenticate the user's identity before allowing access to the user computer system.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein accessing comprises:
accessing an application directory in order to determine the applications installed on the user computer system.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein accessing comprises:
accessing one or more download caches in order to determine the applications downloaded on the user computer system.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein accessing comprises:
accessing one or more cloud caches in order to determine applications associated with the user and/or the user computer system.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing device is further configured to execute computer-readable program code to:
retrieve a list of applications associated with the user computer system.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the processing device is further configured to execute computer-readable program code to:
associate each of the applications and devices with one or more categories defined to indicate information about the user of the user computer system.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the processing device is further configured to execute computer-readable program code to:
analyze the one or more categories to determine information about the user of the user computer system.

10 . A computer program product for discovery of software operable on a computing device, the computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer-readable program code portions embodied therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:
an executable portion configured to access a computing device to determine at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device; an executable portion configured to determine, based on the determined at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device, at least one new tool or application to download or install on the computing device; and an executable portion configured to present the at least one new tool or application to a user of the computing device.

11 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein accessing comprises:
requesting authorization from the user to access the user computer system in order to determine the applications that the user has on the user computer system; and receiving authorization from the user to access the user computer system to determine the applications that the user has on the user computer system.

12 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions further comprises:
an executable portion configured to authenticate the user's identity before allowing access to the user computer system.

13 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein accessing comprises:
accessing an application directory in order to determine the applications installed on the user computer system.

14 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein accessing comprises:
accessing one or more download caches in order to determine the applications downloaded on the user computer system.

15 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein accessing comprises:
accessing one or more cloud caches in order to determine applications associated with the user and/or the user computer system.

16 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions further comprises:
an executable portion configured to retrieve a list of applications associated with the user computer system.

17 . The computer program product of claim 16 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions further comprises:
an executable portion configured to associate each of the applications and devices with one or more categories defined to indicate information about the user of the user computer system.

18 . The computer program product of claim 17 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions further comprises:
an executable portion configured to analyze the one or more categories to determine information about the user of the user computer system.

19 . A method for discovery of software operable on a computing device, the method comprising:
accessing a computing device to determine at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device; determining, based on the determined at least one tool or application downloaded or installed on the computing device, at least one new tool or application to download or install on the computing device; and presenting the at least one new tool or application to a user of the computing device.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein accessing comprises:
requesting authorization from the user to access the user computer system in order to determine the applications that the user has on the user computer system; and receiving authorization from the user to access the user computer system to determine the applications that the user has on the user computer system.
