Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Disclosed is a medical system for short time replacement and repair of a native valve, which comprises an artificial valve ( 502 ); and a device for collecting and arranging chordae and/or leaflets to hold and/or stabilize the artificial valve in a desired position, the device comprising: a unit for grasping a plurality of chordae and/or leaflets. The system and/or device allows for fast and easy replacement of a native valve, fast and easy positioning of a temporary artificial valve, and more time for medical personnel to make decisions, prepare and/or perform surgery/medical intervention.

1 . A medical system for short time replacement and repair of a native valve, comprising: an artificial valve; and a device for collecting and arranging chordae to hold and/or stabilize said artificial valve in a desired position, said device comprising: a unit for grasping a plurality of chordae and/or leaflets and pulling the plurality of chordae towards the device. 2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising: a steerable catheter for delivering said artificial valve; and/or an annuloplasty device; and/or a location valve expander; and/or a clip for locking said chordae in positions towards said artificial valve. 3 . A device for collecting and arranging chordae and/or leaflets to hold and/or stabilize an artificial valve in a desired position, said device comprising: a unit for grasping a plurality of chordae and/or leaflets and pulling the plurality of chordae towards the device. 4 . The device of claim 3 , wherein said unit for grasping a plurality of chordae comprises a hook and/or a ring and/or a fluid-filled balloon. 5 . The device of claim 3 , wherein said artificial valve is collapsible for delivery and/or expandable upon delivery, and wherein said device is attached to or integrated with said artificial valve. 6 . The device of claim 5 , wherein said unit for grasping a plurality of chordae and/or leaflets comprises a plurality of hooks, said hooks being equidistantly distributed exteriorly along said artificial valve. 7 . The device of claim 3 , wherein said chordae and/or said leaflets are collected and arranged towards said artificial valve by rotation of said artificial valve. 8 . The device of claim 3 , wherein said artificial valve is secured to said chordae and said native valve by rotation of said artificial valve. 9 . The device of claim 7 , wherein said rotation of said artificial valve is actuated by rotating a catheter. 10 . The device of claim 3 , further comprising a clip. 11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein said chordae and/or said leaflets are kept in position towards said artificial valve with said clip. 12 . The device of claim 10 , wherein said clip is shaped as a helix. 13 . Use of the medical system of claim 1 for short-term replacement of a native valve and/or for temporary use during beating heart surgery. 14 . Use of the device of claim 3 for short-term replacement of a native valve and/or for temporary use during beating heart surgery. 15 . Use of the device of claim 3 during life saving intervention, intervention in acute leaflet and/or chordate rupture. 16 . A method of delivering an artificial valve for short time replacement of a native valve, such as a mitral valve or an aortic valve, in a heart, said method comprising: positioning said artificial valve inside said native valve; pulling a plurality of chordae and/or leaflets together and towards said artificial valve by use of a device for collecting and arranging chordae to hold and/or stabilize said artificial valve in a desired position, said device comprising: a unit for grasping a plurality of chordae and/or leaflets and pulling the plurality of chordae towards the device. 17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising: deploying a clip to surround said artificial valve and/or to keep said chordae and/or leaflets in position towards said artificial valve. 18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein said plurality of chordae and/or leaflets are pulled together by rotation of said artificial valve. 19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein said rotation of said artificial valve is actuated by rotating a catheter. 20 . The method of claim 16 , wherein said artificial valve is collapsible for delivery and/or expandable upon delivery. 21 . The method of claim 16 , wherein said catheter enters from the left ventricle and goes at least partly into the left atrium for delivery of said artificial valve. 22 . The method of claim 16 , wherein said catheter enters from the groin and goes via aorta at least partly into the ascending aorta for delivery of said valve. 23 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising: inserting an annuloplasty device; and positioning said annuloplasty device. 24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein inserting of an annuloplasty device is performed after said artificial valve is positioned. 25 . The method of claim 23 , further comprising: removing said artificial valve. 26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein said artificial valve is removed after said inserting and positioning of said annuloplasty device. 27 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising: creating an additional space between at least two chordae and a ventricular wall of the heart by said pulling a plurality of chordae together. 28 . The method of claim 27 , further comprising: advancing an annuloplasty device into position through said additional space. 29 . The method of claim 16 , wherein said catheter is a two-axis steerable catheter. 30 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising: deploying said clip by pushing it out of said catheter and into position with a pusher.
