A payment card may include a read sensor configured to detect a reading of the payment card by a card reader. In particular, the payment card may include a controller or a processor configured to count a number of times the payment card is read by other card readers. The payment card may implement card security measures based on the number of reads detected by the read sensor. The payment card may further include a magnetic stripe emulator configured to emulate signal patterns of a magnetic stripe when the magnetic stripe is read by a card reader. The controller may disable the magnetic stripe emulator when the number of reads detected by the read sensor exceeds a predetermined number.

What is claimed is: 1 . A card device, comprising: a sensor; and one or more controllers configured to perform operations comprising: determining a previous authenticated transaction with the card device; detecting, using the sensor, a reading of the card device by a scanner for a transaction; determining a number of readings of the card device from the previous authenticated transaction to the card device being read by the scanner for the transaction; authenticating the reading of the card device by the scanner for the transaction based at least on the determined number of readings of the card device; and enabling the card device to make the transaction based at least on the authenticating. 2 . The card device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: determining a time period from the prior authenticated transaction to the card device being read by the scanner, and wherein the authenticating is further based on the determined number of readings being below a predetermined number of readings allowed within the time period. 3 . The card device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: detecting, using the sensor, the card device is read by a second scanner; determining a second number of readings of the card device from the prior authenticated transaction to the card device being read by the second scanner; and locking the card device based at least on the second number of readings corresponding to a predetermined number of readings allowed from the prior authenticated transaction. 4 . The card device of claim 3 , wherein the operations further comprise: transmitting a notification to a mobile device that indicates the locking of the card device based at least on the second number of readings corresponding to the predetermined number of readings allowed from the prior authenticated transaction, wherein the notification is configured to cause the mobile device to display the notification. 5 . The card device of claim 1 , wherein the number of readings of the card device comprises a number of readings of a magnetic strip of the card device, wherein the operations further comprise: detecting, using the sensor, a magnetic head of the scanner configured to sense one or more polarities of the magnetic strip, and wherein the reading of the card device is detected based at least on detecting the magnetic head of the scanner. 6 . The card device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: causing an electrophoretic ink display of the card device to display a status indicating the authenticated reading of the card device by the scanner. 7 . The card device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: detecting a fingerprint input received by a fingerprint scanner of the card device, and wherein the reading of the card device is authenticated based further on the fingerprint input detected. 8 . The card device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: determining, with an emulator of the card device, one or more magnetic signals of a magnetic strip, wherein detecting the reading of the card device by the scanner comprises detecting the one or more magnetic signals is read by the scanner; and wherein the number of readings comprises a number of readings in which the one or more magnetic signals is read by the scanner. 9 . A system, comprising: a non-transitory memory; and one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations comprising: determining, based at least on a communication with a communication module of a card device, a number of readings associated with the card device; authenticating a reading of the card device by a scanner based at least on the determined number of readings associated with the card device; and enabling the card device to make a transaction based at least on the authenticating. 10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the communication is through near field communication (NFC), and wherein the reading is authenticated based at least on the NFC communication. 11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the communication is further with a mobile device and the communication module of the card device, and wherein the reading is authenticated based at least on the communication with the mobile device and the card device. 12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise: determining one or more passwords received based at least on the communication with the communication module of the card device, wherein the reading of the card device is authenticated based at least on the one or more determined passwords. 13 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise: determining an account identifier received based at least on the communication with the communication module of the card device, and wherein the reading of the card device is authenticated based at least on the determined account identifier. 14 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise: causing a light emitting display of the card device to display a status indicating that the card device is enabled to make the transaction. 15 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the card device comprises a magnetic strip, wherein the number of readings associated with the card device comprises a number of readings of one or more polarities of the magnetic strip, and wherein the reading is authenticated based at least on the number of readings of the one or more polarities of the magnetic strip. 16 . A method, comprising: determining a number of readings of the card device based at least on a mobile device communicating with a card device; authenticating a reading of the card device by a scanner based at least on the determined number of readings of the card device; and enabling the card device to make a transaction based at least on authenticating the reading of the card device by the scanner. 17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the communicating is through a Bluetooth communication, and wherein the one or more readings is authenticated based at least on the Bluetooth communication. 18 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising: determining the card device receives a fingerprint input with an optical sensor of the card device based at least on the mobile device communicating with the card device, and wherein the one or more readings is authenticated based further on the determined fingerprint input. 19 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising: causing the card device to emulate one or more magnetic signals with a magnetic strip emulator of the card device, wherein authenticating the reading comprises authenticating the one or more magnetic signals. 20 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising: causing the mobile device to display an authentication request received from the card device; and in response to the authentication request, determining a user input received by the mobile device, wherein the one or more readings is authenticated based at least on the determined user input.
