Provided are a method for reporting a state of a relay operation performed by a terminal in a radio communication system and a terminal using the method. The method evaluates an event related to a state of a relay operation of the terminal and, when the event is satisfied, transmits a report for the state of the relay operation.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method for reporting a relay operation status performed by user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: evaluating an event related to a relay operation status of the UE; and transmitting a report on the relay operation status if the event is satisfied. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the report is transmitted to a base station or another piece of UE. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the event comprises at least one of events in a table below. Event DESCRIPTION Event_R1 Determine that it attempts to start relay operation Event_R2 Determine that relay operation has already been started Event_R3 Determine that it attempts to stop an on-going relay operation Event_R4 Determine that an on-going relay operation has been stopped Event_R5 Determine that it attempts to resume a stopped relay operation Event_R6 Determine that a relay operation has been resumed Event_R7 Determine that another piece of UE that has to provide a relay operation has been detected Event_R8 Determine that UE is no longer able to detect the presence of another piece of UE providing a relay operation 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the report comprises at least one of status information indicative of the relay operation status and identity (ID) of the UE and an ID of a subject of reception of the report. 5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving configuration information about the relay operation status report, wherein information required to be included in the event and the report is configured in the UE based on the configuration information. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the UE autonomously determines to start, stop, and resume a relay operation and executes the relay operation. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the UE is able to execute a start, stop, and resumption of a relay operation only when the UE receives an explicit command from a network. 8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein if the event is satisfied, the UE transmits the report to the network, receives a command related to the relay operation from the network as a response to the report, and starts, stops, or resumes the relay operation in response to the command. 9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising: detecting another piece of UE, and starting a relay operation for the another piece of UE if it is determined that the detected another piece of UE is not placed within coverage of a network, but is placed within coverage of the UE. 10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the UE determines that the another piece of UE has been detected when a device-to-device (D2D) discovery signal is received from the another piece of UE or control information related to D2D is received. 11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein when the another piece of UE is detected, the UE notifies the network that the UE attempts to provide a relay functionality to the another piece of UE and receives configuration information which permits the provision of the relay functionality from the network. 12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the UE notifies the network of an identity (ID) of the another piece of UE. 13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the configuration information which permits the provision of the relay functionality comprises an identity (ID) of the another piece of UE. 14 . A user equipment (UE), comprising: a radio frequency (RF) unit transmitting and receiving radio signals; and a processor operating in conjunction with the RF unit, wherein the processor evaluates an event related to a relay operation status of the UE and transmits a report on the relay operation status if the event is satisfied.
