Official abstract text for this publication.
Disclosed are a method and an apparatus capable of searching for a docking service and a peripheral function incidental to the docking service in a direct communication system. To this end, a method by which a first wireless device searches for a peripheral function provided by a second wireless device can comprise the steps of: transmitting a probe request frame to the second wireless device by the first wireless device; and receiving a probe response frame from the second wireless device as a response to the search request, wherein the probe response frame can include a bitmap for indicating a name of the peripheral function supported by the second wireless device or the peripheral function supported by the second wireless device.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method of discovering a peripheral function provided by a second wireless device, which is discovered by a first wireless device, the method comprising: transmitting, by the first wireless device, a probe request frame to the second wireless device; and receiving a probe response frame from the second wireless device in response to the discovery request frame, wherein the probe response frame comprises a name of the peripheral function supported by the second wireless device or a bitmap indicating the peripheral function supported by the second wireless device. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probe request frame comprises a hash value obtained by converting a service name which the first wireless device desires to search for into a hash, wherein the probe response frame comprises a service name field containing a string of the service name, and wherein the service name field additionally comprises a string indicating a name of the peripheral function. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probe request frame comprises a hash value obtained by converting a service name which the first wireless device desires to search for into a hash, wherein the probe response frame comprises a service name field containing a string of the service name, and wherein the probe response frame further comprises a peripheral function name field containing a string indicating a name of the peripheral function. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each bit of the bitmap indicates whether the second wireless device can support a prescribed peripheral function. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probe request frame comprises a name of a docking service which the first wireless device desires to search for and wherein a lower level of the docking service name comprises a string for identifying a wireless dockee or a wireless docking center. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probe request frame comprises a name of a docking service which the first wireless device desires to search for and wherein a lower level of the docking service name comprises a name of a peripheral function desired to be searched for. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probe request frame comprises a service name which the first wireless device desires to search for and wherein if a preset special character is included in the service name, a search for services included in a prefix corresponding to a remaining string except the special character is performed. 8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein in a docking service, the first wireless device has a status of a wireless dockee and the second wireless device has a status of a wireless docking center. 9 . A method of providing a peripheral function supported by a first wireless device to a second wireless device, which is provided by the first wireless device, the method comprising: receiving, by the first wireless device, a probe request frame from the second wireless device; and transmitting a probe response frame to the second wireless device in response to the discovery request frame, wherein the probe response frame comprises a name of the peripheral function supported by the first wireless device or a bitmap indicating the peripheral function supported by the first wireless device. 10 . A first wireless device, comprising: a transceiver; and a processor, wherein the processor controls the transceiver to transmit a probe request frame to a second wireless device and receive a probe response frame from the second wireless device in response to the probe request frame and wherein the probe response frame comprises a name of a peripheral function supported by the second wireless device or a bitmap indicating the peripheral function supported by the second wireless device. 11 . A first wireless device, comprising: a transceiver; and a processor, wherein if the transceiver receives a probe request frame from a second wireless device, the processor controls the transceiver to transmit a probe response frame to the second wireless device in response to the probe request frame and wherein the probe response frame is configured to comprise a name of a peripheral function supported by the first wireless device or the peripheral function supported by the first wireless device.
