A solid thermoplastic semi-crystalline friction-activated adhesive composition comprising the mixture of: (a) from about 50 to about 100 parts by weight of a semi-crystalline adhesive polymer that comprises: (1) crystalline monomer having an alkyl carbon length of at least 16 carbon atoms; (2) non-crystalline monomer having a homopolymer T g below about 80° C.; (3) waxy, soft monomer having an average pendant alkyl carbon length of at least 14 carbon atoms; (4) monomer having acid or base functionality; (5) functional or non-functional macromere having a T m from about 40 to about 120° C.; (b) 0 to about 50 parts by weight of tackifier; (c) 0 to about 50 parts by weight of crystalline additive; (d) 0 to about 50 parts by weight of filler; (e) 0 to about 30 parts by weight of oil; and (f) 0 to about 50 parts by weight of one surfactant. What is claimed is: 1 . A solid thermoplastic semi-crystalline friction-activated adhesive composition comprising the mixture of: (a) from about 50 to about 100 parts by weight of a semi-crystalline adhesive polymer that comprises: (1) from about 5 to about 96 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one crystalline monomer having an alkyl carbon length of at least 16 carbon atoms; (2) from about 4 to about 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one non-crystalline monomer having a homopolymer T g below about 80° C.; (3) 0 to about 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one waxy, soft monomer having an average pendant alkyl carbon length of at least 14 carbon atoms; (4) 0 to about 10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one monomer having acid or base functionality; and (5) 0 to about 40 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one functional or non-functional macromer having a Tm from about 35° C. to about 120° C.; (b) 0 to about 50 parts by weight of at least one tackifier; (c) 0 to about 50 parts by weight at least one crystalline additive; (d) 0 to about 50 parts by weight of at least one filler; (e) 0 to about 30 parts by weight of at least one oil; and (f) 0 to about 50 parts by weight of at least one surfactant. 2 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the semi-crystalline adhesive polymer comprises: (1) from about 5 to about 60 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one crystalline monomer having an alkyl carbon length of at least 16 carbon atoms; (2) from about 12 to about 59 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one non-crystalline monomer having a homopolymer T g below about 80° C.; (3) 0 to about 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of at least one waxy, soft monomer having an average pendant alkyl carbon length of at least 14 carbon atoms; (4) 0.5 to about 3 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer of a monomer having acid or base functionality; and (5) 0 to about 30 parts by weight of per 100 parts by weight of adhesive polymer a functional or non-functional macromer having a T m from about 40 to about 120° C. 3 . The composition of claim 2 wherein: (1) the crystalline monomer has a pendant alkyl group of from 16 to 50 carbon atoms; (2) the non-crystalline monomer has a homopolymer T g below about 40° C.; (3) the waxy, soft monomer has a pendant alkyl of from 14 to 50 carbon atoms; (4) the monomer having acid or base functionality has acid functionality; and (5) the macromer has a T m of from about 45° C. to about 60° C. 4 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the semi-crystalline adhesive polymer consists essentially of: (1) at least one such crystalline monomer; (2) at least one such non-crystalline monomer; (3) at least one such waxy, soft monomer; (4) at least one such monomer; and (5) at least one such macromer. 5 . The composition of claim 1 comprising from about 5 to about 40 parts by weight per 100 parts of the adhesive composition of at least one tackifier. 6 . The composition of claim 1 comprising from about 1 to about 30 parts by weight per 100 parts of the adhesive composition of at least one crystalline additive. 7 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the crystalline additive has a T m of at least about 50° C. 8 . The composition of claim 1 comprising from about 1 to about 10 parts by weight of oil per 100 parts of the adhesive composition. 9 . The composition of claim 1 comprising from about 10 to about 40 parts by weight of surfactant per 100 parts of the adhesive composition. 10 . An adhesive application device comprising (1) an adhesive rayon comprising the composition of claim 1 and (2) a removable wrapper. 11 . A method of using the composition of claim 1 comprising the steps: (a) forming the composition of claim 1 into a pressure sensitive adhesive mass; and (b) friction rubbing the pressure sensitive adhesive mass onto a substrate; wherein the friction rubbing results in formation of a tacky adhesive deposit on the substrate.
