A powered saw including a saw blade configured to cut a workpiece and driven by a drive train having a narrow profile. The powered saw includes a miter saw having a chain drive disposed in a housing having a narrow profile. The powered saw includes a blade support assembly configured to reduce or eliminate interference between a workpiece and the powered saw. The miter saw enables a user to make right angle cuts, left angle cuts, and zero cuts of tall and atypically sized workpieces.

What is claimed is: 1 . A power tool comprising: a workpiece support surface for supporting a workpiece thereon; a motor supported on said workpiece support surface; a cutting element configured to perform a cut in a workpiece, said cutting element having a drive input for driving the cutting element to perform the cut; a drive assembly coupling said motor to said cutting blade, including; a first drive train extending from said motor to a position offset from said drive input; and a second drive train connecting said first drive train to said drive input for transmitting drive movement from said motor through said first drive train, through said second drive train to said drive input. 2 . The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein said first drive train includes a driving pulley or sprocket coupled to the output of said motor, a driven pulley or sprocket at said position offset from said drive input, and a belt or chain engaged between said driving pulley or sprocket and said driven pulley or sprocket. 3 . The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein said second drive train includes a driving sprocket or pulley connected to said first drive train and a driven sprocket or pulley coupled to said drive input of said cutting element, and a belt or chain engaged between said driving sprocket or pulley and said driven sprocket or pulley. 4 . The power tool according to claim 3 , wherein said first drive train includes a driving pulley or sprocket coupled to the output of said motor, a driven pulley or sprocket at said position offset from said drive input, and a belt or chain engaged between said driving pulley or sprocket and said driven pulley or sprocket. 5 . The power tool according to claim 4 , wherein said driving pulley or sprocket of said second drive train is coupled for rotation with said driven pulley or sprocket of said first drive train. 6 . The power tool according to claim 3 , wherein said second drive train is oriented substantially perpendicular to said workpiece support surface. 7 . The power tool according to claim 3 , wherein said second drive train includes a tensioning mechanism engaging said belt or chain between said driving sprocket or pulley and said driven sprocket or pulley of said second drive train. 8 . The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein said position offset from said tool is substantially vertically above said drive input of said cutting element and above said drive input relative to said workpiece support surface. 9 . The power tool according to claim 8 , wherein said first and second drive train define a clearance space between said drive assembly and said workpiece support surface that extends vertically above said drive input of said cutting element to provide clearance for a workpiece. 10 . The power tool according to claim 1 , further comprising a bevel arm apparatus supporting said motor, cutting element and drive assembly on said workpiece supporting surface and configured to pivot said motor, cutting element and drive assembly to a bevel angle relative to said workpiece supporting surface. 11 . The power tool according to claim 10 , wherein said drive assembly is configured to define a clearance space between said drive assembly and said workpiece support surface sufficient to permit pivoting by said bevel arm apparatus to a bevel angle of about 45 degrees.
